I asked a question a week ago about side trips from both the TAT and the CD, and got great answers.

Wanted to marry that up with a list of sections of both rides NOT to be missed.

I'm on the TAT right now, I know its early in the season and some of the passes will be closed, but now's when I have time.

On my list for sections not to be missed are:

    TAT
    - Warloop Road, AR
    - Green River UT,
    - Long Canyon Rd,
    - Cinnamon Pass
    - Hancock Pass
    - Black Dragon Canyon, UT

    CDR
    - Fleecer Ridge in MT

A tall order to come up with a short list, but what else, obvious, am i missing?

Don't miss the western half of Arkansas, one of my favorite days of the trip.

Everyone says that Oklahoma is a bore but I really enjoyed it. Yes, you travel in a straight line for long periods of time but, if the weather is pleasant, this affords you the ability to really look around. I did notice quite a bit of debris on the Trail. So, keep you eyes open for things that can cause flats.

Once you get to Boise City, the landscape will really start to change. As soon as you cross into New Mexico, you'll immediately see two buttes in the far distance. Now, the riding really gets fun. All of Colorado will be great as will Nevada. If you choose to stop in Salida, you might consider the Circle R Motel. The owner's are awesome and familiar with the TAT (inmate Hayduke lives there, too). La Veta has a place to stay (even though it's quite small). I stopped in Trinidad where there were more food choices. You've got some great riding coming up in the next few days, I'm jealous. :D I hope the weather holds, Oklahoma mud is no fun. The Weather Channel isn't showing more than a 30% of precipitation for Newkirk, OK for this week. You should be good.

I really enjoyed OK and NM. Those states are where the landscape transitions and you climb.

I've flown into Colorado before, but this time I rode to Colorado!

Roger that. I hope you can get thru the high CO passes. It's still pretty early in the year and they may still be closed due to snow.

You will be posting a ride report, right? :D
