You know when we pulled away from that officer I saw him grab the radio mic as we rode away. I really thought we would see some lights behund us since I was bringing up the rear.
That was a kick ass time. Thanks for the ride!!!

Looks like you guys had a blast out there this weekend.

There are a few of us over on supermoto junkies that have been going on more and more adventures. Most of us on knobbies with pretty capable trail bikes. We are always up for an adventure and would like to hoook up with a few of you some time.

Ill keep an eye out for PDX rides, but feel free to send me a pm and let me know if you are looking for a ride compadre!!!

The one guy with the Thompson :gun2 style magazine really didn't want us to see what he had:evil I'm glad they weren't drunk! Now that I think about it the only thing missing was somebody getting a flat...or encountering Bigfoot.

Personally, I think we are way too slow to ride with you guys. :rofl

Since most of the roads this time of year are hard-packed dirt (since off the roads is TOO muddy,) I am sure anyone with SM experience would be going 2x the speed with 1/2 the crashes. :rofl

You could ride with Mat however! :evil

Who are you referring to young man? I think all did pretty good at a good pace. Even Mr "First time on the dirt with a Dakar and only limited experience" did really well. I think he has more experience then he was leading on !!!!:lol3

I should clarify, I don't think as individuals anybody is slow (except probably me) but I can imagine someone with SM skills on some of the roads probably would have left ME, at least, in the dust. :rofl

On the flip side, I think Mr. Twoduc probably was frustrated with all the dirt bikes on the pavement. I was expecting to get passed on the inside... :evil

I guess you didn't see me drag a knee when we rounded the corner onto Cornelius Pass Rd eh? :evil My 50:50 tires (Enduro 3 Sahara) and heavier bike (~425 w/o me) didn't like the mud much...not to mention my lack of off pavement skills. Upon my first off all I could think was "holy shit I fell" but then I soon realized that everyone's bikes had a "blemish" or two and that's the norm for off street riding. I had a blast!

You guys are just like we are over on the Supermoto site......a bunch of smart asses!!!

    I like it!!!

We do alright, and always have a good time. We kept pushing the limits, first it was the pilot powers on the pavement and I had an awesome time on those and the big old XR650R made for an amazing supermoto, then we started to explore the gravel roads a bit more, and I upgraded to some 17" distanzias, and while they were much much better on the gravel but the frontend still pushed through the turns like crazy and they were not great on the trail to say the least.

I was lucky enough to have the stock wheels kicking around so I got some TKC 80's mounted up on the 21/19 combo and this bike is a big trail bike but man it makes for a great adventure bike (not for the super long rides).

We did a little over 200 miles through the trask and out to tillamook then screwed around on trails up at Browns camp and headed home via 6.

There are about 8 or 9 of us, including one crazy guy Sam (Lincolnlock) that frequently comes down from Mt.Vernon to ride that get together pretty often and thought that maybe we could merge together someday and see if our supermotos can hang with the REAL adventure bikes!!!!!:clap

Yeah, hackster, keep an eye out here for future rides. Maybe you guys can show us some tracks out in the 'mook forest someday too. I've been wanting to check out Roger's/Brown's Camp on a moto; been out there many times on a mt bike. It's probably pretty sloppy there this time of year ...

Jones Creek sounds like it closes on Friday the 20th. They have some pretty nasty trails out there. A few of us are going to head out there when they reopen.

I would be down for a Saturday ride, especially if it is early in the day. Might even get a few of the Supermoto crowd to show up with me......

I would be more than happy to show you guys around Browns camp/rogers camp area, I am just beginning to explore the Diamnond Mill area so that may be a wild goose chase!!! But I would like to see some of these Scappoosssssseee roads that you all speak of.....

You guys going to start up a new thread for Saturday?

You guys are klilling me!!! I won't make this ride as I will be up at the mtn getting some much needed work done and hopefull skiing on Sunday. I think I should get some different tires on the ol' girl so she doesn't get so active in the mud.

If you guys want, I can always edit the first post of this thread to reflect the next planned ride, and this thread can become the place to look to join an off-pavement ride in and around the Portland area. I guess if the next instigator of a ride asks me to do so, this thread might evolve into that ...

I got some work to do on my new Heep, so early or late on Saturday (and not an all-day-ride) would be good. I think we should meet-up a little earlier, 9 or 9:30 since we always seem to need a while to get on the road.

Right now it is looking like 45 and Showers for the Portland area, that means snow in the Scappoose hills...

Last time we sort of had to stay on main roads... Many of the 'trails' are mostly under water.
