I think part of it is that signage doesn't necessarily keep up with trail evolution.

One section by Archers that 20 years was difficult, and was marked as Black Diamond, has since worn enough to become much easier. I would now call it moderate, but it still has the Black Diamond sign.

The same with the easy and moderate trails, some have worn to become more difficult, but have had no change in the rating.

Heading out to Tillamook/Brown's Camp from PDX Saturday morning(ish) with my girlfriend. Looking for beginner and intermediate riders that want to ride with same or more advanced riders that don't mind coaching some greenhorns. We're loading the bikes in the truck and unloading at staging area. She rides a newer model XT250, and I'll be on a Husky TE310. Also interested in meeting folks that are into small Zodiac type inflatable boats with outboards. X

    More from Reid:
One other update. Mongos Canyon trail is open to DOWNHILL traffic only at this time. We got a reroute cut in, but it's too steep to climb, and will get blown out pretty bad if people try to go up it. Until we can get a nice two-way option cut in, please limit your travel to just going downhill. If you see people coming up, let them know as well. Thanks!

Anyone interested in a TSF dirt ride tomorrow? I'm going to Ben Smith tomorrow, will get there at 10am. Difficulty TBD, depends on who shows up.

Nice day... got in a bit over 50 miles. A lot of that was road, but it paid off; found a couple of trails I hadn't ridden before.

    Yo portlandiaites,

A buddy and I are riding out of Banks this weekend. Any ideas for a dirty route over to the coast? We are thinking maybe stay at the Casino in Lincoln City, then return. @Scott_PDX ? @MortimerSickle ?

If you take the left turn off 6 at Rogers Camp, you can get through on fireroads and some trails to the Trask River, about 12 miles from Tillamook.

If that sounds good, I'll check the map to confirm road names.

Or, maybe you can recruit Brute448 for guide service.

I'll do some sort of trail ride. No plans or group yet, but I prefer singletrack. Where do you prefer to stage from?

@Luke i stage at rogers to get riding, but dont really go toward browns ( to many head on instances over the years) but quick to ride at rogers then ford west to jordan creek via archers or maybe morrels maze if its open.

Sounds like a good loop. We might see you at the west end of archers.

BTW Morels is closed and mostly turned into road. A couple of sections of archers are closed too, but you can go around on the road to pick up the next open sections.
