You can take Meadowlake out of Carlton and work your way to NF-14. NF-14 - South lake - then south to Hwy 22. West a bit on Hwy 22 to 2281, or 1280, I cant' remember which it is, then on to NF-12. You'll end up on Slab Creek Road north of Otis.

Anybody lose a 2 way radio? Riding the other day in the Tillamook Forest, we found a nice, 2 way radio on a trail. Identify and claim.

Has the new 5% tax on Vehicle purchase in OREGON hit your inbox? I received an email from Tigard BMW (motorcycles) as follows:

    Beat the Oregon Tax

Did you know, starting January 1, 2018, the State of Oregon will be collecting a tax on all new motor vehicle purchases? This is no joke.

The 79th Oregon Legislative Assembly (sponsored by Joint Committee on Transportation Preservation and Modernization) passed House Bill 2017 (HB2017). In HB2017, Section 90 imposes a privilege tax (calculated at .5% of the retail sales price) on businesses for selling motor vehicles and Section 91 imposes a use tax (calculated at .5% of the retail sales price) for the purchase of motor vehicles.

If you're skeptical about the validity of the above paragraph, check out the details for yourself. Aside from contacting your local representative about a tax coming to fruition without voter approval, what can you do? You can beat the Oregon tax by making your motor vehicle purchase before December 31, 2017.

I had not heard of this prior to the email I received...........5% is a pretty hefty fee.......

Sorry if this is a repeat or in the wrong place - kind of Oregon specific

It's 0.5%, not 5%, but still, a privilege tax?, no vote, etc. etc. That said, it's still dramatically less expensive to own a bike in Oregon than in most states.

So that is $50 on a $10,000 bike...yes that's still better than most sales tax states, but still a sales tax.

Could be worse, bikes pay $15 for bikes over $200. That equates to 7.5% tax, on a $200 bike...wherever they can buy a bike for $200. So much for bike friendly.

Too bad you couldn't make China Hat. Any chance you can ride woods this winter?

I picked up a trials type tire just for that reason. If I get over the plague by then I'll be at the back 40 enduro this weekend.

Plague, huh? That sucks. Have you tried leeches? I think that's traditional. Also laying down and dieing was popular. Ask your doctor if that's right for you.

I'll be out for the next couple of weekends; busy, plus it's elk season. As usual, let's look for good weather and go.

LOL - Dying was popular back then, but not good advice nowdays. Sounds like you done been sick since Nestucca Chris! Must be sumpthing in THAT water. Get well soon.

Luke - Does that mean you are Elk Hunting or Elk Hunter Hiding? Squishy and I will be at the Back 40 Enduro tomorrow if you need a riding fix (Jordan Creek).

Yeah, but he has crimson, or whatever else color, they call that new fancy bike he's was sporting at East Fort Rock as weekend.

Speaking of KTM - What was the verdict on the 2 stroke KTM? Does it live?

Hiding. I used to think I could just go ride the trails where I never see game, but that's where the dumb hunters go.

And it's flourescent red. Be careful looking at in full sunlight, it's a bit painful.
