Life on the road in not without it’s upsides- yea verily
I’ve been standing in front of a nice young lady behind the counter just outside of Winston Salem and having heard her tell the folks right in front of me that they were sold out for the night. She seemed to find a room for me when I rattled off my Hilton number off the top of my head.
Finding rooms in sold out CITIES is usually a simple matter of a call to the diamond line. They will all ahead for you and secure a room that was reserved but not checked in yet.
Marriott has a better points program, but I stay at Hilton properties just because of how well I’m always treated. Somethings not up to spec? Let me comp you a night Sir. Need a suite for a meeting without the upgrade charge? Done. How about that balcony room with the marina view at the dumpster view rate? My pleasure Mr. Tail.
There are things I will miss when I’m done traveling.... that’s one of them. Luckily, I’m pretty close to lifetime diamond status :nod

Yep, Hilton family properties were always my first choice because of how well they treated me. Free drinks, free cooked-to-order breakfasts at Hilton Garden Inns, free upgrades to jacuzzi suites, priority reservations at sold-out properties—Hilton did customer service RIGHT! I was a Marriott member too, but rarely stayed with them. Lifetime Diamond status with Hilton would be KICK. ASS!! I woulda had it if only I’d stayed with GE long enough to get a golden handshake when they shut inventory finance down a couple yrs ago:dunno

From what I remember that program is only a couple of years old. Takes 10 years of diamond status and 1,000 nights to nail down, but after that, it’s golden ticket time

    That's never gonna get old:lol2

And here are a few pics to illustrate a story told at the Hurricane Lake Fireside Hootenanny last Saturday night, we were talking about the time JP punctured his eyeball with some rusty barbed wire. ANF Fest '09...
    JPeye.jpg
And like I told the assembled gazoonies, JP "treated" the wound with a shop rag, and some Wild Turkey AKA Kickin' Chicken
    JPeye-1.jpg

And also from '09, a pic from PreFest in ANF--where we met the Squirrels. They all had their own funny Squirrel nicknames, but "Squirrel Frick" is the only name I recall, she's the brunette...
    PreFestGroupshot.jpg

Anybody who was there would remember that it got pretty crazy after the Squirrels brought out their liquor suitcase, mixed up some "CFM Punch," and started passing it around in a dog bowl:lol3

No more CFM Punch for me, that stuff's as bad as moonshine

From the looks of that post, someone should start an ANF ‘09 thread :lol2

You were rockin some high-quality Neil Young on the gee-tar as I recall, then the CFM Punch came out and your playing got somewhat erratic.:lol3

Blondie Squirrel was impressed tho. Right up until the point she realized you had passed out in your tent.:umph

Now that photo shit bucket has started holding my stuff hostage does anyone know a way to start mass exodus of all my uploaded photos? Either to my PC or to smugmug. I don’t really care.

I'm right there with ya, mang...I've been grabbing my pics from my P-bucket account in Johnny Cash style, "one piece at a time." Since I have hundreds of pics on the account, I'll never retrieve them all--and it'll be a cold day in hell before I give 'em $400 of my hard-earned money. Yeah, I've got all the pics backed up, but most of the backups aren't organized into folders like my P-bucket pics are. And wading thru several thousand random images on a 500-gig external HD trying to recreate my P-bucket folders ain't gonna happen anytime soon, either...:dirtdog

Well, what can I say--it was a good free ride while it lasted:dunno

I was able to save all of my files when I left after they tried to hose everybody with a $400 yearly fee. Look around on the site for a way to save *all* of your files and it will have you select "all" and zip the files up and give you a download link. It worked for me.

Well I logged on to PB and I am already pissed off. Man that place sucks. Anyhow, I do not see the download link available but here is another way. It may cost a few bucks ($2.00) but all you have to do is add this as a plugin to the Google Chrome browser and it will allow you to get your pics in a zipped file.

I would just sign up for a dummy google account, use google drive. Pretty robust storage space, and for like $3 a month, you can get yuuuuge amount. Lot easier to use (click and drag, easy options to share).

Smugglr is the smugmug-based migrate app to bring shit from various other hosts into Smug. I brought in many hundreds from P-bucket summer 2016, took minutes. Retains orig P-bucket folder count but things are way easier to re-arrange once they're in Smug anyway. You do lose the orig P-bucket links to anything ever posted to ADV, only way to fix is go through and replace the URLs manually (ie: not happening)

I looked into that, but this msg makes me think maybe it won't work for me, given my KLRista "unpaid member" status...

This is an unlimit version of Photobucket Album Downloader.
    1. Download photos as much as the album have (No limit)
    2. Download original size of photos (Not compressed) !!!! Only Paid Member of Photobucket !!!!

Whoever wrote that, English definitely ain't their first language !!!!
