I put it in my calender maybe I will make it.

I think I can still see 100yrds, it's the sights that are the problem, do you really need those. :defend

Fitz Miller and I walked, re-arrowed and trimmed about 8 miles of trail at Whiting OHV area this morning.
The parking area has been cleared, holding pond dug, and the forest service is starting to lay the gravel for the roads.

As most of you know, my son has been deployed since March and was expected home later this month. Today, while eating lunch, and celebrating my father in law's 77th birthday, my boy walked into the kitchen, catching all of us off guard and creating quite a stir. We had no idea he was coming home early. In fact, he landed at Hurlburt at 0900 today and came straight here to surprise us. I had just cooked hamburgers and Conecuh Sausage on the grill, so after hugs and tears all around, he sat down to a burger, pasta salad and sweet tea.

It's a good day at my house!!

Cost me $25 plus $5 for the second match.
    Add ammo to that.
Prices are quite a bit lower if you are a member.

I just bought a cheap used 30-06 Rem ADL to do load testing with... now to get a Garand and loading dies. Refinishing the ADL's stock today (the walnut stock was spray painted black, and the recoil pad was not fitted, and there was evidence of bullet strikes inside the end of the muzzle brake which means it probably shot like arse before...hopefully it will do OK from here on)

    Madhouse's gun is addictive.

You only need to be able to see your front sight. Nothing else needs to be in focus. Reading glasses, anything to make the front sight crystal clear and you are on your way.

Hope to join you guys at WF soon. Bought a bunch of riding gear, waiting on a knee brace, and will have to use hiking boots until I scrounge up some decent boots.

That sounded like a ton of work!!!!!! You have earthmoving type gear? Or do I need to bring hand tools (shovels, rakes, chain saw)?

Excellent advice. I've been a firearms instructor since 1985 and if I had a nickel for every time I've told a student 'front sight', I could buy a KTM and be one of the cool kids....... :)

I do remember my Marine Corps training "Front sight, Press, Surprise" IN THE BLACK

We just used lobbers this morning to trim with, most of the trail just need riding in.

Speaking of gear after I fall I took on my knee a couple of weeks ago I think I need to start using knee protection.
Does anyone have any likes or dis likes on what kind to get, or does anyone have a pair to part with?

That's a loaded question. Many opinions on knee braces/protection.
"Most" of my knee episodes have been deep bruises or abrasions from impact, and even the cheapest ($25 pair) variety often are very good at protecting shins and knees. The other end of the spectrum ($700 pair) usually gets only average marks for knee coverage, while getting high marks for providing lateral support if properly fitted. I have the latter, and I get the impression they are better than nothing but not vastly superior to the cheapos which ARE both way better than no protection at all. Get the best you can afford, keeping an eye on 2 details; Ones that stay put while you ride, and are comfortable.
