I can't speak for GPR stuff but on the Scotts SS they stress the center of the shaft that the damper connects to, should be exactly on center with the steering stem. See the last pic in the pdf.

    http://www.scottsonline.com/litrack/416.pdf

The reason I know it is looked at as critical to the operation is that on KTM's when you buy a Scotts kit, you have to order it with the top bar clamp for one of the 4 positions that you can have by flipping the lower bar mount around and the 2 sets of holes. Once you make the decision and order, changing your mind later cost's you another top bar mount machined to the correct offset.

Rode with my neighbor Spectre around Blackwater (65) miles or so. Visited with Barney and his sons (great young men)!

    It was a beautiful day!

I know Ineptizoid and bzrider went out there and I believe one other was with them? I was planning to join up with them at the start of the ride, but we all know how plans go. Last night my car throws the battery light on- bad alternator. Ended up spending 4 hours and 200 dollars this morning to get that resolved. When I finally made it out to blackwater at about 12:30 or so, Inept and I just played phone tag every so often and never managed to hook up.

It was a great day. Temps in the 70s and partly cloudy. Tried out a new setup where my camera is in my tankbag instead of my tailbag and I ended up using it a lot more. Dont really have a ride report for any of you- I basically followed some tracks I recorded last time I was out with Ineptizoid, some tracks I made on my own, and then spent the last hour and a half before sunset blindly lost just enjoying the ride. The following pics are pretty much in succession:

What little deep sand I came in contact with today played well- it was still wet from the rains weve had so not too many butt puckering moments :lol3

I was shocked at how green this short patch of grass was considering its January :huh

For the most part I dont really like Pensacola, but every once in a while it pulls one of these out of its pocket and I enjoy it here...

Its like Little House on the Prairie shit. No little house and no prairie, but whatever :lol3

Great day out there today; you guys should definitely head out there while the warm lasts because by February I imagine its going to be :vardy

Maybe next time Ineptizoid well get to ride instead of playing phone tag all afternoon :ricky

(Posted this earlier in the Day Trippers thread)

My mother in law is in from Michigan for the month of January, which means that every weekend she wants to come over and spend time with the grandkids. Translation: free time for dad!

This is what welcomed me this morning.

I spent some time on the forums this morning and planned today's adventure.

With a route planned and my riding buddy (fellow inmate, Bridwell52) all suited up, we set out for a fast ride through the slower pace of southern Alabama.

The weather was ideal for riding; partly sunny 70-75 degrees with a light wind. I started to smell the warm smells of pine trees and dead leaves as we moved away from the coast and into the winding backroads of the country.

Our first stop was a closer look at the rivers which wind their way through the backcountry.

It was wonderfully quiet along the river. Lots of small homes tucked neatly into the woods. Folks waived from their front porches as we passed. Very peaceful and relaxing.

I was warned that rural Alabama is a very unique place. As we prepared to leave the river front I noticed this brain sitting on the ground nearby... I'd call that unique.

Not sure what unlucky creature left its head on the side of the river today...

Back on the road Bridwell52 and I cruised through the long twisties and enjoyed the scenery.

We stopped in at the Stagecoach Cafe in Stockton to grab some eats. Neither of us made it to the Last Ride of the Year this year, so I was glad to be able to check out the cafe for lunch.

I wasn't disappointed. Good southern home cooking. I made the grave mistake of sampling everything and topping it off with a helping of peach cobbler. Climbing back on the bike after lunch was a chore as all I wanted to do was lie down and take a nap.

We struck out for some spirited riding on the backroads in search of nothing in particular.

We visited Ft. Mims, a frontier settlement well known in the area as the site of a massacre of hundreds of early settlers and soldiers.

It was a simple and tasteful site.

We weren't the only ones who thought riding today would be a good idea. I think we must have passed at least 10 different groups of riders.

Clouds continued to grow as the afternoon grew long so we decided to call it a day and head home.

The ride had been just fast enough, and at the same time the pace seemed slow and relaxed.

...And this is what welcomed me when I arrived home.

Here's to a beautiful ride through a beautiful state.

    Wow, what a weekend!

Rode a great loop of Blackwater dirt on Saturday.

This morning Spectre (who is my nextdoor neighbor) and I rode out of my yard and hopped on the range. Navigated puddle road and up to points north before crossing 87.

Found this tank on the way to the fence line bordering the OLF.

Headed up to Grassy Point. Every time I ride out here, I am grateful that we get to ride to such awesome places, legally!

After that I showed Spectre the awesome sites at Escrabano Point, just beautiful. (Click to see shortest vid ever)

Of course the trail heading out there is very treacherous with DEEP water holes everywhere. We used a stick to see where the bottom was in some of them.
Keeping with his crashing ways, Spectre went down in some sand and retweaked his recently healed collarbone.

Several miles down the road he figured out what the problem was, BEARINGS!
Not just bearings but front wheel bearings!

I rode back to my place and grabbed the truck to haul his bike home.

Not a bad day though! 65 miles of sand, puddles, tanks and the most awesome views you can ride a dirtbike to in this area.

(Last time I was at Escrabano Point was with our buddy Rbin........hope he starts riding again with us soon)

    Also, Go Barcia!
Davalos is an animal getting on the podium after that nasty heat crash....thought he was dead.
