thanks alot! i have spares- i bought a bunch of little things when i took my bike to korea just incase. it uses the nut/special washer combo. that would be great if it is an o-ring seal. i havent had a chance to get the sprocket off but threw a good amount of oil all over the rear of the bike. i noticed a small leak comming from the wires that go into the igition cover. so i am not 100% on the source yet. i have to get the sprocket/chain off and clean it up and then start it up to see. just got to find the time.

no kidding but that costs extra lol. the original oil leak was caused when a korean mechanic installed the site glass with foreign material that actually ate the seal and started to leak. so that part i actually fixed. but i torqed the front sprocket to proper specs maybe need stronger loctite or less oil spraying all over it??? you are welcome to come over and expertise some stuff.

lol- i rebuilt the drz i used to have. while i was in korea i started to get a slight crank knock. so i had a korean mechanic tear it down and fix it. have not had really any major problems since. turns out the bike had too much oil and was dumping it into the Airbox which was dumping it right on the sprocket area. so i do need some help.

turns out the sprocket seal looks almost brand new. the orange oring looks worn. the oring sits basically in this spacer that goes over the spline. what is supposed to hold the spacer from slidding out from the seal? the sprocket or is the seal supposed to hold the spacer on? i can push the spacer back on and the seal does hold the spacer somewhat. i started the engine without the sprocket one to see how bad it leaked and it seemed if i pushed agaisnt the spacer it really didnt leak. so i am guessing i just need a new orange oring and when i put the sprocket back on the nut will hold it altogether??? sorry i cant post pics or i would upload one...

Yeah dirty, the sprocket and nut hold it all together. It has to have the correct torque and the correct sprocket. You don't, by chance, have an aftermarket front sprocket do you? Our LC4's are very particular about the front sprocket. Aftermarket sprockets arnt always the correct thickness. The thickness is important to the o-ring, which makes 90% of the seal. I didn't see an orange o-ring when I was going through some stuff but I bet I have one. OEM front sprocket, correct torque and a fresh o-ring, you'll probably be good to go.

thanks Tim...i used the same front sprocket all year in korea with no issues. one diffence though the 16t sproket has rubber dampeners on each side and the 17t doesnt. i rode some hard miles on the 17t though.

The sprocket should be good then, the rubber dampners are the new ones designed for the 690.I do have a spare nut/washer and I found an orange O-ring. Let me know if I can help out. By the way, what torque are you using? It can get confusing, the bolt torque is much lower than the nut. With the washer bent over it should never fall off, loosen maybe, but not fall off.

pretty sure it was 60ft/lbs i would have to check the manual i have. i doesnt let you torq it much more cause the engine spins. i looked at the nut closer to see if it was ok and i did not seen any loctite material and the book calls for 243. so maybe that was it. the washer was not bend up as much as could have been. thanks for the offer i ordered the oring maybe we could meet up and i can get the oring from ya for this weekend...

Give us some time to welcome you. Always good to have new riders join to bunch.

All types of riding in this area. Watch the posts and join in.

As MItr mentioned, post #2 gives you a good idea of where and what types of rides we have.

    Timberlake is in Ft Walton.
We ride from Karack Lake a lot also which is close to you I think.

Most of our Fastburn rides are 60 miles and no gas! Most all off pavement.

Other rides are more relaxed and can fit in a gas station, but 40 miles is pretty short legs for most of the off road stuff...

Offically not riding tomorrow but let see about Sunday...

BTW - Etin - come on out and lets ring the 2fitty out...

VICO, I will try to make Sunday work. Currently packing up to start moving next week. Moving from North Pensacola to Innerarity. Won't help dirt biking or mountain biking, but boating will be off the chart...
Etingelefunts: get ur bony ass out there. U need to commune with some knobby tires and deep sand. I need to continue dialing in front suspension. Gonna start at zero on the compression,,, other than that, the li'l hussie is runnin' purty good.:evil
