On north E street across the street from Pensacola Mill Supply.
Come on Jeff,,,,, you can remember!!
Possibly going on the the new trailer......if the stuff that Tractor Supply put there falls thru. I am trying to keep it really light and I have trouble remembering that objective .
I never met Mr. Rudd.....met Charlie about the time he opened on ten mile rd. What was his dad's nickname?
Charley and I are very distant relatives......my wife worked with his wife's dad's wife. Whooo that is a lot of wives.
Charley also did some "stuff" for us while I was at Eglin.....they do excellent work.
Flash back of the Shane Watts Dirtwise dirtbike school with Jason Thomas at Hard Labor Creek in January a few years ago in the windy, pouring rain, sloppy, crazy mess! I learned Sooooooo MUCH! But was exhausted and could barely move the next day.
Who's face do you know.... Several ADV guys...
New Africa Twins (two of them) should arrive the first week of Feb.
New CRF240L both the standard version and the "Adventure" version should arrive the first week of Feb.
Ready to go now....KLR650, 2009, looks new, I think the price was $3,800.
I am not endorsing any of the bikes above just passing along info if anyone is interested. Took my bike in for some recall work and that is how I found out about them.
Madhouse....you would look good on an Africa Twin. Maybe that should be your "retirement" present to yourself .
Everything above is too heavy for me....all over my 300 lb (well actually 299.9) limit.
This Friday at Timberlake we are riding. Meet at 0900, roll out about 0930. Will be showing Wombat and Pt around, all are welcome. Just a medium burn in the sand/mud/creek. Temps will be nice that day.
Charlie,s dad,s nickname was Popeye .
I worked for Tieco, industrial turf supplies In the early 80's and we've used Rudd welding a lot at the old E street shop.
Pensacola Motorsports has Africa Twins as well as Halls Motorsports on the Eastern Shore in stock. Nice bikes!
Jake do you still plan on ridding to Apalachicola this weekend? On sat?
Think I'm going down Friday night and will be there through Monday. If you want to meet for a gumbo lunch Saturday just let me know.
Pensacola "had" them in stock but as of 3:00 today all they had were the ones coming the 1st week of Feb . The pics of the Honda 250L Adventure bikes look really cool but I am afraid they are going to be all bark and no bite. Probably be a good first bike for somebody looking to do "Adventure" riding. The guys that now run the sales department at Pensacola Motorsports are pretty good to deal with. Honest good communicators but their prices are a touch higher than you can find other places if you are willing to drive a little bit.
Halls always seems to have a good supply/assortment of bikes....shame I haven't had very good luck dealing with them. Twice I have called and they told me a bike was on the showroom floor and when I drove 50 miles to buy the bike....it wasn't there. Twice is two times too many so they are out of chances in my book. I still go by to look at lot .
Just my experience....hopefully everyone else has better luck.
I will let you know
Waiting on my VStrom to go tits up.
May not ever happen and that would be just fine with me.
What a great bike the 650 VStrom is!
It'll happen one day.
How many miles on the "V" now?
Like you said, that might be a looong wait.
I am not particularly fond of a V twin but I have to admit that the Strom is a pretty darn good bike...you have helped prove that fact .
Thats your burden to bear Tom.
Tony, I'm 10K miles behind you with my Wee and still think this is the most comfortable, most versatile street bike I've ever owned, by far. No plans to get rid of it anytime soon.
I looked at VStroms and read everything I could a few weeks ago, and even picked on Madhouse to gimmee all the advice he could in reference to his bike, and now you fuckers are trying your best to convince me into buying one !!
The guy that owns the Calsci windshield company has 350,000 on his wee..........not sure anything better can be said
AFRICA TWIN. Consider it.
Holy cow, Batman!
I knew they were pretty durable bikes, but 350K is insane. A couple years ago ADVer JamieZ came thru town on his Wee and crashed at my place, he had well over 100K on his odo and the only mechanical problem he ever had was the fuel pump. He said it had developed an oil consumption habit to the tune of roughly a quart every 1K miles, but it didn't concern him. It wouldn't concern me either, if I had 100K+ on the odo...mine sips about 1/3 qt every 1K, nothing to complain about. The fact of the matter is I'll NEVER wear the bike out, because in all likelihood an Africa Twin will be replacing my Wee in the next few years. I'm not in a big hurry tho...
101K on my Vee and still runs like the day I got it with 74K on it.
Nothing but normal maintenance stuff done to it since I've had it.
