Yep, that hill is where the left radiator got smashed back into the fan....lost a lot of energy wrestling that thing back upright from laying down gthe hill on my left leg:eek1

Lost about 20 min. right there, and I guess the energy drain cost me much more in the long run.:cry

Congratulations Al. 9 laps on a broken and wheezing KLR. Simply making a go of the +40 Iron man . . . big ol' brass huevos . . . well done.

BTW - what was Paul Broome riding? Surely it was not his XR650R. Paul finished 2007 Dakar on a BRP . . . kick start only . . . Dunes in Mauritania and he was kicking that bastard after he'd pick it up . . . you had some tough competition . . . .

Heck...I can't remember what everyone was riding...but I know there were no XR650Rs around.

There was a good looking Gas-Gas there, and a new Husaberg, not the 450, whqt ever the 500cc+ size is. Great looking bike.

Paul was riding a new 'Berg (not sure about displacement).

I pitted next to Allen and was impressed with the KLR. Then I got to see him ride. Brass ones indeed!:clap

    Well done, Allen.

    Hey Allen
I was there this weekend helping out the Acadiana team. I could not believe that someone was riding a KLR in this event. I rode it several years back and I'm still recovering. And when I saw that you had ridden the bike there and were riding it home, well, you are one tough hombre. Well done.

Excellent videos. Some of the best I've seen esp the night vid. Must've been a high quality camera. Thanks for posting them!

    Damn Al! Riding a KLR thru that stuff . . . without a footpeg . . . .

    You're a hero.

Sort of makes you want to reconsider road racing, eh?

Again, my hat is off to you. Great adventure. Great effort. Great spirit. Well done. And thanks for the inspiration to an "old guy" to do something just about 3/4 of a bubble off . . . .

    Now, for the next act . . . .
