We got all summer Jeff. we will get in some rides between now and when the snow flies again.
Ideal will be the day after it rains all night. It was a bit dusty yesterday.

Modern medicine rocks, seems whatever my doctor prescribed for whatever was ailing me has been cured as of late last night, spending today (Saturday) working around the house and I'm now planning on heading for Michaux on Sunday morning, anyone interested in meeting up at some point during the day PM me and we'll set up a time and place to meet.

Cured is probably the most awesome word to be able to say! :thumb Congrats!

My allergies are kicking my ass. If it wasn't for that, I'd be up there all weekend.

If any of you see a guy on a highly modded KLR wearing Klim gear, Stop and say hey to Dennis! XC Rider. He's channeling his inner HBN this weekend.:lol3

Might be up there on Sunday on my Burgy. Won't be riding the dirt though, Burgy's don't like dirt. If you see a white 650, that would be me.

I came in on Rattlesnake Run and took it all the way to the end and found the picnic area on Old Forge Rd (I was looking at a hike on another website that starts at this picnic area and the OP said the directions were confusing and he got lost) Now I know why. The southern end of Rattlesnake Run isn't marked at all that I could see. Neither is High Rock road at the southern end where it meets Rattlesnake Run. I need to get gps! . Oh well, every trip in I learn a little more and it really was a blast covering 30 miles of dirt roads

Nice to see peeps getting out to enjoy the park. :thumb

The following is a offered as a Michaux riders public service request....
I'm gonna take this opportunity to beg folks to not ride on closed roads and trails.
There are always ongoing political battles over access in all State and National forests. The horsey crowd (a very powerful lobby) is always pushing to limit access to ORVs. Hunters are also a very powerful crowd that lobbies to kick us out of the parks altogether.
Every motorcycle track found on the forbidden areas provides fodder for their efforts.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, they can impound your bike, if they catch you.....:eek1:eek1

I do not wish for this thread to become a political debate.... PLEASE and THANK YOU!!!!
If you would like to discuss the topic please PM me or start a thread about the issues we face.

We had a great ride after the rain last night. Jeff lead the 4 of us through the south end of MSF for 50 plus miles of dirt roads.

I had great ride last evening in Michaux with Denny, Rich and Zack, it was a little soggy, but that didn't hurt the ride a bit!

I got started a little early yesterday, 3:30 P.M., and finshed riding all of the unpaved state forest and township roads that run in, out and through Michaux after two days of riding. I filled my DR441s's 2.4 gallon tank fours time after about 65 or 70 miles each for a total of about 260 to 280 miles, which also includes the paved connector roads. Two roads were gated, Teaberry Road to the south (not sure why?) and Piney Mountain Ridge Road to the north, it's scheduled to reopen on the last Friday in May, the 31st this year!

Next up I'm planning on riding all of the same roads above in both directions over two days as well, 502.9 miles worth (315.2 unpaved miles and 187.7 paved miles) plus the paved connector roads. I'm planning the ride for Saturday the 22nd (235.1+ miles) and Sunday the 23rd (267.8+ miles) of June, to celebrate the Summer Soltice which arrives on Friday the 21st at 1:04 A.M.! Sunrise is at 5:43 A.M. and sunset is at 8:43 P.M. on both days, so there should be at least 15+ hours of daylight available to do the ride in each day. If your interested in joining me, I plan on leaving a half hour prior to sunrise (5:13 A.M.) from the Sheetz store at the intersection of U.S. Route 11 (Philadelphia Avenue) and PA Route 997 (Black Gap Road) on both mornings. This ain't no flower sniffin' ride!!!!:lol3

This message was posted on the Michaux State Forest Facebook page on Thursday May 2nd, 2013:

Please be aware that the Guilford Water Authority will begin construction of a new 24" water main in and along Ridge Road in Greene Township on Monday May 13, 2013. The project will require that the road be closed between PA Rt. 997 (Black Gap Rd.) and Sandy Sod at the top of the mountain between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 4:40 P.M., Monday through Friday for a period of two to three weeks. Please contact the Authority office at 717-263-2813 for more information.:deal
