    Haha great comments!
Yeah, roos are bloody dangerous, but mostly at dawn and dusk (although they do move around at other times as well).
What I always wonder about is - do they hop across the roads anyway, or do they wait until they hear a car/bike coming???

They also get stunned by the headlights and stop, generally in the middle of the road.

Oh and as they usually travel in a group, its not usually the first one that gets hit, you've got to watch out for number 2 or 3! :eek1

Of course, and the odd drop bear that's fallen out of its tree....
I've also noticed a lot of wombat road kill recently, now that's something I wouldn't want to hit!

Yeah, Wombats are BLOODY solid! They have been known to take out the undercarriage of cars...

A piece of trivia... An Emu's eye is physically bigger than its brain... :huh :eek1

I don't know, yes the white tail in the east fit this to a tee, but in N CA this fall I saw a LOT of deer, and all were on the side of the road, and either stayed put, or ran back into the woods. Of the couple dozen I saw, NONE ran across the road.

But then again it was cannabis hervest season, so maybe they were all mellow from eating the buds.

There was a lawsuit here in Texas a few years back, guy kept finding his emus decapitated and laying dead in his yard, turned out his emus kept sticking their heads through the fence and the neighbors dogs were biting their heads off! :lol3

I'm on the west coast & it's very common around here. In fact, the photo below was in NorCal this past September. One deer darting out in front of my buddy & one darting out behind me (further ahead). I even remember seeing the blur of brown streak past me to my left. We were both pretty dang lucky that trip. We even bought lottery tickets when we got back home, but I guess we burned through all of our luck the previous week.

We were heading north on CA-96 between Salmon River Road & Happy Camp.

But thanks for the CA-49 tip! Looks like there are a bunch of good roads in that area.

Good advertisement for Colorado. They should place those every quarter mile throughout the state.
