Temps were in the low 30's, pretty damn cold for Phoenix. We bundled up and headed off. It was a brisk 10 miles of easy jeep roads to get to the start of the hard stuff.

We were concerned about crossing the Agua Fria River. Nothing worse than being cold and wet. Luckily, the water level was LOW.

Fingers fully frozen, we arrived at the Gate to Hades. We would warm up in a hurry.

We had to chase this bull about 1/2 mile up the road. What's that say about the start of the trail?

The road quickly becomes rocky and steep!

Goner won the first victim prize with a bent gear shifter. I told him he'd only need one gear, but we got it fixed any way.

    Up and ready to go.

    No worries!

Water tank, I've made it this far once before.

One of the most scenic rides I've done.

Goner showing off. This is about as far as Javalina and I made it on the last attempt.

    The trail ahead.

    There's Goner!

We arrived at the Packer Split and decided that we hadn't had enough abuse yet. We continued on the trail to the Milk Ranch.

    The trail ahead for Nightstalker.

    And Slowred.

Great photos dude! You really capture the intensity of the riding,,,seems like the plated enduro bikes are the best for that area. Congrats on making it farther than in previous rides! (past the water tank....)

The road past the split was still plenty crappy, but far less traveled. Grass and brush filled the road at times.

Then I got to this CLIFF! The picture really doesn't capture how nasty this wall of rock really was. I made an attempt but flipped over.

Goner came up to see what I was up to.

It was turn back to Packer or get the rope out and lift the bikes up. 12 miles of abuse left little energy to be yanking bikes up this impass. We returned to the Packer Split.

    Goner heading back.

We stopped at Road Runner in New River for some burgers and fries on the way back to Phoenix.

Just under 45 miles for the day. We did all the blue. I've done the red in the past. The 1 mile of magenta is still uncharted!

I like your chose of the word road. If you keep picking these type of routes your going to need a Trials Bike.
