Alrighty then. I'm not one to get between a man and his vision (but I will ask for pics :deal, :lol3).

Enjoy the time in the shop with your dad - it looks like he has a lot to share.

    Onward.

The old Slash 2-era "Dover White" is gorgeous... a soft white, and with the proper pinstripes is quite distinctive....

Actually after looking at more bikes in the Dover White you may of just helped me pick the color of my bike. That is beautiful and it really represents the vintage era of the bike. Hmm might have to price out the cost of this paint, I need to figure out a paint code for that.

Looks good on an R90/6, too. It was originally a Ford Mo. Co. colour that BMW used back in the day. Not sure of the code, but I'm sure it's well documented.

Here's the thing, at least from my perspective. If'n that is factory paint, and it appears that it might be, then leave it alone... it'll only be factory once...

I appreciate your thoughts but I am not leaving it that color. I purchased the bike as a project to build to taste so I am going to stay with that route. I plan on keeping this bike for a very long time and I want the bike to feel like my own.

There are many whites and ivories to consider. Check the Porsche Light Ivory from the 60's. If you park it next to a red car, it takes on a red tint, blue car, blue tint. Amazing paint. Mercedes used at least 3 tints of ivory in the 50's and 60's.

I know I saw an amazing new Audi metalic ivory that looked like gold dust infused pearl. Stunning.

Just cruise the mall parking lots to see lots of examples. That is how I found a currently available match for the Blue metalic on my RS.

Reviving an old thread here but paint makes people smile doesn't it? Nothing like a new paint job

Firstly I have a Belgian Police '76 90/6 that is one the water from Europe to Australia, I need to get the tank repainted and I thought I would go back to the bikes roots. Meet Rocinante. I called the bike that because we spent the last European Summer chasing windmills together through Germany.

Hey Imyamen did you ever post pics of the bike in White? Also did you get the paint code. I found that BMW Police white was 083 is that Dover White or is 084 Dover White. The differences? Anyone help here?

What do people think about a white frame to go with the white Tank?

I like it, but the headlight and fork ears need to be white too...

Love the Ivory. Being an ex Belgian Police bike I would like to keep it nigh on original in colour. THanks for the photo though

Awesome looking bikes! Love the white one, the headlight and ears being white really give it a vintage vibe. Well done! More photos of the green bike please!

image.jpg I definitely liked how white looked on my R75/6, especially with the S fairing, which was still awaiting pinstripes in this photo. After trading the bike back to the former owner's family, I was told it was originally green. It might have come down to a coin flip as to the color the next repaint: I genuinely like both colors.
