I had the chance to see it in Eggebek some years ago. Where was that picture taken?
Not exactly my bike and a plane , But I did take the boy out to see this B-17 Flying Fortress at the local airport. Met a few vets that flew these in the war which was a big honor for us.
At the former Plattsburgh AFB, NY
We were sitting around the FBO the Friday before the 4th of July weekend planning for that weekend's combined airshow and car show. Some guy with a hot rod was supposed to race a Pitts but he backed out at the last minute. The show organizer asked if I'd do it on a bike and another pilot offered up his Aprilia. Had a blast practicing it that night trying to get the timing right and it seemed to work out well during the show. I smoked the Pitts, so if we do it again next year I'll give him more of a head start.
First airhead BMW I ever looked at closely was parked about 50yds away from that B-47. It was an R75/5 and I believe it was in the summer of 1974.
My dad and I got a tour of the flight line at Plattsburgh by a Lt. Col. friend of my aunt. I got to sit in the left seat of an FB-111.
I was 13 and the world was never any cooler than that.
Crazy to be looking through this thread and see a plane I've actually flown. Great Shot
That's in front of the Aeronauticum / Naval Air Wing 3 in "Northwood, Germany"...
Excellent.... an Aprilia Futura smoking a plane....
Please see if you can find a video of the race.....
Thanks from a Futura Owner
I don't have any video of the race the day of the show, but my wife took a couple crappy videos of us practicing the night before. This one is out of order because it starts with me returning to the start line then shows a "race". I left way too early in this one.

Thanks for the awsome video...even if you would have started a little later, the plane would have lost. The Futura was "flying" there.
Where was this airshow..??
I flew P-3's out of Rota Spain many years ago and got to fly a few missions with some French crews on the Atlantique in the Med. Tough airplane, but I always preferred the extra two motors. The crews actually served wine in the galley during missions. No wonder they lost to you guys....
With the rate P3s keep loosing engines I can see why....
??? I dont recall speaking German in France or goosesteping during my service
While not an airplane, it did fly. Check out the saddle. Taken in Norco, CA, also known as Horse Town, USA.
When riding this road in the picture, you actually cross the beginning of the take off / landing strip. Saw a plane approaching so I stopped and snapped this photo with my mobile phone. I guess it´s some kind of Cessna or something.
