Took this at the Chanute Air Museum on the former Chanute AFB this summer.

I attended aircraft maintenance technical training on Chanute back in 84 and swung through on my way up to the U.P.

Long Beach, CA Airport. Just out sight seeing some old familiar grounds back in my training days. The problem is, none of those old hang-outs at the airport exist anymore! Progress wins again. Oh well...

This used to be the final flight/test area where the DC-10's & 9's parked before delivery. Only thing there now was this B1. Not sure what the story is on this plane, but there is was...

Found these DC-3's on the south side of the airport. They are used to service Catalina Island 22 miles off the coast....

On the west side of the airport is where the C-17 Globemaster is assembled. Next time i'll get over there and get some shots. I did manage to find a few of these on the south side near the tower. These aircraft(sorry you can't see the 2nd craft)look pretty used. Not sure if it's "warranty", or what....

Don't be so hard on yourself, it's a nice bike.:evil

Seriously though, that's a Beech D-18 and worth a fair bit of coin exactly as it sits.

    I think that is a -500 landing with a -300 holding short.

You are partially right, (and I'm partially wrong). It's a -500 with winglets landing, and a -500 without winglets holding short. NAX never operated -300. Soon they will only have -800's.

I have lots of pictures of airplanes, and lots of pictures of motocycles. I have very few photos of airplanes and motorcycles.
However I did take a couple yesterday.

Taxing out for another flight. The plane (and pilot) has about 400 hours since new. That's a lot of flying. It has been to Oshkosh, and lots of other places too.

Thats a Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star.

I used to work on them when I was stationed in Alaska during the mid 80's.

In fact, I even got to fly one from the back seat once when I had to do some emergency maintenance on some Cold War Alert F-15's at Galena and King Salmon Alaska.

They were a very dependable Korean War vintage (read: early 50's!) jet...I learned a lot working on them. :clap
