I don't know if this has been posted since I don't want to go through the whole thread.

This was taken in late September during a 3000 km/3 day to Skagway. At White horse Airport. The DC-3 moves with the wind to indicate direction.

I've seen B17s flying here in the US, but I've never seen a Lancaster. That's awesome!

Wow, what are the odds of getting everything lined up at the right moment for a shot like that. A rare opportunity for sure. There are only two flying Lancasters in the world. Nice old Bonneville too.

I spent a good chunk of '98 and '99 at Aviano Air Base. Got sent over to support the war in Kosovo.

Italy is a beautiful country, I'd love to make it back some day as a tourist.

I love that base too...I went to Aviano AFB TDY many times with the F-117 Stealth Fighters.

For the war on Bosnia, air shows, war on Kosovo, etc...

Beautiful place and very nice people, very hospitable.

I'm retired now after 20 years in the USAF...great memories.

Spoke to the crew of one of the Lancasters at Oshkosh a few years ago. They said they had five engines for the plane. Each year the spare is rebuilt and then swapped out with one of the engines on the plane at years end.
Next year, the process is repeated with the engine that was removed. That way, every four years the plane gets four rebuilt engines.
