These two were parked at the local Walmart.
A38C6A54-1EE3-4C29-931D-BE4FAB1AC5AD.jpeg They’d had enough of winter and took Pop’s truck when he went napping. They said they weren’t panhandling, but could use a bag of kibble and a tank of gas. If you happen across Trixie and Bob heading south... well you know, dog lovers gotta help each other out.

Well. It happened. With a belly full of omelette, peanut butter and bacon: Charlie crossed the Bifrost. We didn’t deserve such a great dog. He took care of my wife before I even met her. He went at home in his favorite spot. Like I said, we lost a great one. 40BBFBD6-6608-4B68-A924-381D5612FB24.jpeg

I am so sad for your loss. You gave your pup a great life and he gave you a friendship like no other.

A good friend of mine told me that when we go some day, we get to go to the place where all of our old dogs are and they are waiting for us to play again.

With tears in my eyes, my heart goes out to you, your family and your pup.

    Uh, oh....
    Damit!

Seems like a switch has been thrown. My weirdo flex all the sudden pulled up lame in the rear. There has been a history of odd rare yelps for two years or more, but even trips to the vet could not find the problem which seemed to cause a front leg limp. Normaly he is fine anyway. Wed after work was normal retrieving. Wed evening signs escalated.
Returning from work thursday, i could not find him in the house, he did not come to greet me.
Found him oddly laying in the bathroom.
It is a rough night this thursday. He whimpers and is reluctant to move anywhere.
Earlier, i finally found the sore spot to be at his right hip. A squeeze there causes discomfort.
I do fear the worst being displacia. I was going to see if things improve, but now i may have to take friday off work and visit the vet for xrays. Treatment costs are not something i can do.
I am sad as he has been my most loved one to get me through the modern era i am in.
Don’t know how i will get him in the truck without his help. He is to heavy and awkward for me to just lift up there. Can’t even get him on his feet. Screaming out in pain.

    We’ll see....

Sad for your loss Scareraven. What a peaceful setting for him to crossover from and an honor for his pack members to be there so lovingly with him.

Boy can these guys pull on the heart strings at times like this. Hope it’s only a soft tissue event like a muscle or tendon tear that can heal up. We lost our German Shepard a little over 2.5 years ago to a stroke, but her hip dysplasia was getting so bad we were challenged to come up with practical solutions that would work. Wish you both all the best in the days ahead.

    Thank you.
I have gotten him into the truck. Unfortunatly I have to wait 1 1/2 more hours for nonemergency status at the vet. Flex seems a bit at ease knowing he is going some where. Fingers crossed here. He is only 7.

Here is flud on HIS euthanasia bed at 17. Hope I am not headed down this road today.

Thing is, I am seeing those same signs of immobility.

Seventeen years, that's a damn good run. Kinda like any of us getting past 80.

Thanks to the vet that I am at right now. Waiting to be seen.
Thx for hanging with me, I’m a mess until I get some good news.

Finally in and has initial exam. He screamed murder during the feel out and the doctor says he is swollen back there. IV pain meds and an xray. Let’s see what is ailing my best friend...

Hope you get some good news 2manyrides. Our Aussie Elle keeps hurting herself and we have to give her sometime to recuperate before letting her run around again.
Here’s a few of Delilah sitting on my stomach at the park. 28FAEB3D-024A-46E0-AABB-376093E64974.jpeg 4F0D000B-4419-4067-AD56-1EFE7E9F44B0.jpeg 7A0681F1-09AC-4F15-A495-2AD2D7A446EB.jpeg

Ripley exercising the horse from the other side of the fence, bad dog lol. I think the horse actually likes it though. He provokes the dogs and then takes off down along the fence full bore, obviously with the dogs in chase on their side!

    Thx for the love...
Special prep of a small portion chicken laced dog food mix. Small bowls of water placed in front of his face.... consumption, rest. The perscribed pills.
He layed in the same place all night and refused to get up.

This morning though, there is a noticeable shine coming back into his persona. Another round of hand feeding, water and pills.
“Do you wanna go outside?” Oh boy! He actually was able to get up! Walk gingerly, do the duties.

He is going to endure a two week regiment of anti biotics no mater what and restricted narcotics as needed. Vet will call me with the fluid analysis at some point.

Good dog. Let’s see you get back to your old self!
