Does anyone with a big bike (GS, Tenere, Vstrom, etc.) want to take a ride through the pines on Saturday? I've been riding my Super Tenere down there and think a small group of beasts could have some fun. The weather looks perfect.

These rides do not include any of this. :muutt

Good luck. Been trying to get a ride like this going for a while now, but guys keep showing up on singles, wanting to drown their bikes and get stuck in single track! I should have a new big bike with knobbies pretty soon, and will definitely join you then.

Much more challenging doing a big bike with knobbies in the sand then with those baby bikes! :jack

    Hi Doc,
If young guys show up with singles, we will make them buy lunch. :muutt All kidding aside, come with your BMW and I will pick-up your bike every time you drop it.

Are you riding to the trails/pb's or trailering? If you're riding, how far is it? Have you ridden sand before? You don't have to answer these, just ask yourself.

There is a quicker learning curve on a smaller bike. At least thats was my experience. But if you gotta slab it for hrs getting there and have no way to trailer it, that would rule out a small thumper. Not rule out, but i think it would get old quick.

A few friends have drz 400's and love em. They're also familiar with the terrain though. I learned in the sand on a 690, once i moved to a smaller bike I picked stuff up a bunch quicker.

And I guess you could also add, what is fun to you? Bigger mellower sand highways or monster whoops with bike swallowing puddles :lol3

When I rode down in Jackson off reed road I trailer queened the aprilia rxv 450 down there.I had fun rooster tailing down the road and riding it thru the whoops, puddles jumping berms and riding the fields and pits down there. At 1st I was fighting bike but learned how to let bike wallow and power thru it and shifted weight around. I'd love to have another ape but sadly they've stopped making them,ktm/husky beta etc are awesome rides I'm sure but right now I can't afford another 9 grand plus cycle.

I'm ready with my "bridge loan" Triumph. As long as it's limited to multi-cylinder dual sports!

I'd go for a ride this weekend. I'm on a KLR650, which is probably about as heavy as a thumper can get. I'm pretty new to dirt riding though, so riding with bigger bikes would keep things easier for me.

How does Atsion Ranger Station at 10 sound? I am very flexible so let me know if that is a problem for either of you.
