Both were brand new, fist rides, but I was referring to my KTM 150. CFEA2466-047B-42D6-99CE-48F8024CA745.jpeg

First ride is very positive. 10-15 pounds lighter than a xtrainer. The new starter is much improved over the old style. 217 pounds with skid plate, bark busters, rad guards, rotor guard and 1/2 tank of fuel.

Second full ride on the 150 and the verdict is that bike is awesome. The first ride was rough. Lots of little issues.
This past week, I heated the clutch lever and put a custom bend on it, just right. I got the rear brake pedal set just right. Installed V-Force reeds. JD Jet kit. I spent a few hours yesterday dialing clickers in on the backyard track.

Today was awesome. I made it to the top of a bunch of hills that no else could do. This bike rips. It also lugs down low like Freeloader.

No one else tried this climb. Look at them all looking to the top of the climb at the end.

I've seen you climb hills before.
You could be riding a Harley and make climbs most people can't....

Interesting that the 150 can lug down low comparable to the freeride. Years ago I rode a 125 in hare scrambles and that was like hold it wide open and abuse the crap out of the clutch. Had a 200 for a lot of years, loved that bike.
How's the seat for you? The 150 is a tall bike, that's what interest me with the x-trainer,low 35" seat.

That is why I like the Freeride, the seat was a little lower. This is not much taller. I do have a little trouble with povot turns. I may have the suspension dropped by an inch but I think I am going to give it a go at regular height. I had 2 200s. A 2013 with the estart and a 2010 that Jules has now. The 150 is smaller. The 200s were based off a regular frame. The 150 gets a smaller frame. It is also very narrow, like the Freeride. I weighed my bikes with a Bathroom sacks. This one weighs 217, with all the guards. The Freeride weighs 212. Similar amounts of fuel (1/2 tank).

The bottom end of the power range is very close to the Freeride. The top has much more.

Hope your bathroom scale works better than mine, some reason whenever I step on it says I weigh 10-15 lbs more than I should.

So if a 150 weighs 217 lbs with guards and my 250f weighs 257 lbs. 40 lbs lighter, so at a average I drop my bike 10 times a day, that would be 400 lbs less I would have to pick up.

217 with 1/2 tank of fuel, skid plate, rad guards, rear rotor guard, and hand guards.

That has made me a much better rider because I am willing to try stuff and have to puck the bike up. Electric start also helps. The new electric start on this 150 is much nicer than older generations.

I'm wanting to get a light weight bike for tight technical single track. Lately i've been having more fun with that, than blasting through the woods at breakneck speeds.
But blasting through the woods is still fun of course.

As you can see, this bike is capable of the breakneck speeds but it is really at home in the really tight stuff. The best part, shops are almost giving these bikes away right now. I missed a deal on a 2017 for $6200 and ended up with an 18 for only a little more.

I also weighed my buddies 300, setup with guards and 1/2 tank of fuel. 250 pounds, on the nose. 33 pounds heavier than the 150.

Local dealer here can't keep the Alta electric bikes in stock. Also says within the next two years ALL the small KTM kid's bikes will be electric. Interesting.

Lastly, they are one of a few dealers that got the KTM electric E-ride. Everyone that got one (and the wait list was long) has nothing but good things to say about them. They love them.

The one Alta they have left is the enduro... 50ish mile range is what the owners are saying. 1000 mile maintenance schedule. No foot brake, no clutch. 275lbs.

I share all this, because of the comment about the 150's price and that they are "giving them away". Must be a reason.

Lastly, I heard Harley just bought Alta. Hopefully they don't F'up where Alta is headed.

We still have a long 6 months ahead of us with our house build, and then probably another year before the shop and landscaping are finally complete. But I think one of these electric bikes are in my near future. Hopefully I don't get too old and break a hip before then.

Anyway, finally found the trickle chargers in all the boxes and got the bikes plugged in. Looks like the 800's battery is D.E.A.D. However, the 350's looks like it is taking a charge. The next 15 days has sunny weather and temps in the high 50's to mid 60's. Hopefully I get out soon.

Miss riding... Hopefully a few of you will be able to make it out here soon. I have vacation Aug 28th - Sep 10th. But I do have a running race on Sep 1st and a mountain bike race on the Sep 2nd. The rest is wide open!
