Since retiring from the Army, I rarely get a chance to see old friends but recently I decided to take a trip from Pittsburgh to Erie to kill two birds with one stone. This was the weekend of “Tall Ships of Erie”. I have a fascination with sailing ships and I have an old Army buddy that lives in Erie so I decided now was the perfect time to make a ride to Erie. The sailing ships that docked in Erie consisted of a replica of the Bounty, the Pride of Baltimore II, and of course the Flagship Niagara, and others. LINK I left the house at 0700 and planned to take my time and ride all the way over up HWY 18 and then over to Erie on HWY 20. Not really what I wanted to see on my way up. But the Detour turned out to be not so bad and was in fact on some pretty good roads (except for the one covered in fresh gravel). A cool Mural I finally made it to Erie where I met my friend Ski at his house for some coffee before we headed over to the Docks. Ski is a very interesting character. A nice looking church in Erie. Erie's Finest Nice Electra Glide I'm out of time so I'll have to post pictures of the ships and finish the trip up tomorrow.
