Where are some good places to go ride this winter in the western USA? I live in the Southeast, so I will ship my bike and pick it up.

If I am out there in the winter, I want to be warm (I don't mind mornings and mights being cold), and I want great scenery.

Maybe I am asking for the non-existent and should just wait until next summer to ride places such as the Bear Tooth Pass.

    Any help appreciated.

Gila in New Mexico (near Silver City), Southern Arizona near Wilcox, Big Bend. I think SW New Mexico might have the best riding and cheapest hotels and you can do pavement or gravel. Rich 915 588 5054

I'll throw in a vote for the Big Bend area. I have been down there 6 times between New Year's and early March and except for one trip always had nice weather. Lots and lots of good DS riding. We plan on taking some of our rental bikes down there for February and March of 2011 to see what we can scare up.

Valley of the Sun. We've got tons of trails in the lower elevations round Phoenix, down toward Tucson, and out towards Yuma. A decent bit of pavement too, if that's your style. Not to mention how ridiculously beautiful the desert southwest is. Big Bend is a blast, and southern New Mexico is great too.
