Hey two wheeled tribe. What is the word these days on:

    Random campground stops
    Pitching tent in back meadows
Hotels that are cheap (for a hot shower)

Route planning 4,500 2 week trips.

I plan on leaving June 17th and buzz kill east to spend time w sister near Pittsburgh PA and then catch a 50th birthday party in VT near Montpelier on the 23rd. Then loiter with my folks and a few friends that weekend before heading south through the Appalachian mts to TN then home. Home is colorado.

Riding a 2014 Moto Guzzi Stelvio. Current odo on my bike is 17,000 of my mostly commuting days and a few regional trips in this magnificent state. (Colorado).

Any advice? Thoughts ? Back yards i can pitch a tent en route?

    Thanks

TY- I just downloaded these apps and they seem clunky...
    - koa
    - Roadtrippers
    - ParkAdvisor

I also retro read this forum rules so .... will see if Thisbe sharing of just how do I start with wanting a 4,500 mile trip loop with nothing but a start date, one party to get to and a mountain range to ride through will be....

Quite a few mom & pop el cheapo motels along the older state highways.
On the Blue Ridge Parkway at Hillsville VA is Willville campground, motorcycle only and well recommended. Also along or just off the BRP are many places to stealth camp. State of VA has excellent campgrounds with showers in their parks, camping not required to shower. Hungry Mothers State Park in VA is on Hwy 16 which is a good motorcycling road. I rode to Pittsburg area once using that road to get close, fun ride.
When time permits get off the interstates and enjoy the ride.

The Tent Space Map Bartimus listed is perfect for your trip.

If you need real campground, I always look for state parks; they tend to be very nice and reasonable.

A fan of your motorcycle btw. Rode one once, and there is something special about them.
