Haven't had TV in 8 years, and am jumping back in with both feet.

So, Panasonic 54V10 plasma or Sony KDL55XBR8 LED?

If you like sports, especially hockey on TV, you'll hate LCD.

I hope you have a room to match the size of these things. Without a decent distance, you can count pixels. They are a square of 0.44 mm each (given that my calculation is right).

If you're talking about ghosting a good low response time monitor will do wonders.

Not that you have much choice in the matter these days as technology moves forward whether you like it or not but power consumption of the new TV's is HUGE. I believe it to be something comparable to a tube TV using about 50 watts were a plasma TV uses around 400+ watts. That may seem like nothing but consider how long your TV is on during the day and figure that into your utility bill then times that by all the TV's out there.:eek1

.....Then tell me that the "green" movement isn't a pile of shit.:lol3 Al Gore, you fuck noob.

I just bought a G10 last week and have been pretty happy with it.

The new LEDs are actually pretty impressive, despite all the hype. LCD can still kick ass...an XBR9 isn't going to disappoint anyone for awhile. The recent prices on plasmas were too good to ignore for me.

Really? We've just started to look at some of the new TVs, ours is about 13 years old and it's getting a bit tired.

eh. i bought a 50" plasma last year, and it's not noticeable on the electric bill. the 400+ watts is max power consumption (max brightness, all white screen) i believe. typical consumption will be less.

I hope you know that LED are simply LCDs with a LED backlight?
