I was riding with a group on hwy 170 in Big Bend one year and a sport bike rider lost it in a turn he slid off into the Mesquite brush off the side of the road, full gear but it tore his face shield off and ripped up his face and nose from the thorns and such. He luckily was not seriously hurt, but could have been and we were a long way from help. I see so many people riding with shades on at 70mph. Not good. D.

A lots less than your sight!
And they come in 5 shades, for all you fashion conscious folks out there.

Adding my voice to the safety glasses chorus. Your local Lowes/Home Depot/Ace/etc has plenty of styles & tints for relatively cheap. If I'm going to ride with my visor up, I have glasses on.

That being said, far too many times I've had bugs, gravel, sand, whatever fly over the windscreen and hit my cheek just inside the lower rim of the right lens. It's never the left side, and it's always right on the zygomatic, or just above in the tender eye meat.

I had a bug hit the corner of my eye at 45mph at night during my early riding days. Visor down or glasses on all the time.

To the OP, glad you can still see!:eek1

I carry two pairs of goggles, one on the helmet, and the other in the convenient pouch on the handle bars. I never ride without them :deal One set is tinted
