We won the gift certificate for a free 1st service for anyone buying a new GS at BMW of Jacksonville, FL. Wish we could buy a new one but unfortunately we aren't in the market. If anyone would like the certificate, please send me a personal message with your address and it is yours for free.
whos beta?? do they wanna sell it?
on the way over the forecast nor the horizon bode well, but like FreddieV sez, you can sit on the couch and watch the Weather Channel or you can go ride. A few chose to ride...quite a few
got the bikes unloaded and camp setup for me and Ken, snorers both so required separate accomodations .
heading out Fri morning
one in every crowd..
even had a few Wankers
not that there's anything wrong with that..
wassat? appears we caught up to a contingent of CADS that just couldn't wait for the Saturday A ride, and had a little too much fun.. probably shouldn't talk, it was pretty snotty in places, as I later found out : )
a motley crew
...they had nothin' on us
if this guy says it's good....it's good!
I think there was one of everything on this ride..
Looks like the first chance Steve had to call somebody, seems we were going out the front gate as he was coming in, so he just turned around and came with us, luggage and all.
can you pick out the Wankers? actually there were a few others : )
big Kyle dancing with the pig
the big girls
headed for the barn (Cotton's for chili)
What a great cast of characters, and an all around excellent day of riding. Thanks for showing up guys, it was one to remember.
I doubt it, he seems to like it!
I'd assumed the B group would be big, being the middle ground, and it was, aprrox. 30 give or take. Somehow the groups got intertwined from time to time, riders getting in the wrong groups, we had as many as 40 I think at one point. (I don't know what bozo made those routes up but it sure did get confusing at times) :huh
Hmm, looks like we're not the first ones here (pretty much an all morning deal following the A group tracks, but we had a little plan for the afternoon).
Now we're talkin'
That was our last stop before lunch (we ate in Salt Springs so not to overcrowd the other restaurant). Sorry Pete about the gas deal, my mistake man! Speaking of gas, we ate first then went back for fuel as we finished eating. As the last 10 or 12 of us were filling up, the C group pulled in, then a minute later the A group arrived, there were probably 40-45 bikes buzzin around in there at once. I knew there'd be some overlap but things were gettin' bizarre.
I tried to round up the B's quick so we could beat the A's back into the woods, I was curious to see how long we could hold'em off. As it turned out, not that long! (well maybe 45 minutes, it was fun while it lasted)
We were sitting around enjoying the scenery
It took me 3 days to figure out that Crazy Creek, two up on the VStrom the day before (hey, did your wife ever stop grinning ) was the same guy on the DR200. I noticed him at lunch and said, izzat what I think it is, a DR200, he goes, yeah. I said, I can't believe you're keeping up with us! He smiled.
Big Fauss and Little Halsey, pretty sure they've been riding together since before the movie..
Like I said, we were peaceably enjoyin nature when all hell breaks loose, you guessed it, the A group. They came ripping thru like a herd of bulls, we were defenseless.
And then they were gone.
Then there was the little Husky that wouldn't..
but eventually did, to everyone's elation.
then we began the long journey back north (some literally kissing the pavement- pictured elsewhere, and the woods goodbye)
See that guy right there, he was the hero of the day. His bike weighed almost twice everyone else's, way to go Kyle!
Well that was pretty much it, a few more trails then the slab home, a ranger opened the back gate for us and it started raining just as we parked the bikes. Another great day of riding with a truly great bunch of people. I'd thought Friday would be hard to beat but believe we did it. Hey, I think we need to have a B group reunion sometime well before next year's PB.
As Waybill said, "How about a Polar Bear Reunion". We can call it the TRANS FLORIDA GS RALLY II March 8th, 9th 2014. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=944411
