I've been curious to see how many people are riding up to lookouts. Fire lookouts usually provide an interesting ride and incredible views.

Great pics. I love visiting the lookouts, and have some pics, but unfortunately, none since I've gotten a capable bike. Now I have a new day ride idea...thanks. We have three fire LO's in the county, and I'm pretty sure I can hit them all in one good day...pics to follow:clap

From last Sunday's Lookout Quest. Only 1 lookout for the day, we were slacking.

All that's left of the old Grouse Mtn. Lookout... some concrete footings.

The view from ground level... very nice. The view from the lookout catwalk level would have been better, but not one of the more spectacular ones as far as lookouts are concerned... :1drink

But there were some other beautiful views that day. Here's the Trinity mountains of California in the early morning light. I have looked at this particular view of the mountains many times, but on this morning it was especially beautiful. A morning haze was still over the countryside... you could see bands where the air temperature was stratified.

Yes, it really looked just like this. We sat there in awe for a few minutes taking it all in.

Fire tree in WA, think they started using it as a lookout in the mid 1800s. It's the tallest tree around.

Awesome. Rebar driven into a tree for a spiral staircase.

This has to be the coolest LO design ever.

It was like climbing a 150 feet ladder. Pretty exhausting actually. Specially in MX boots and pants :lol3

The pyramid lookout has 3/4 inch thick copperwire on two of the corners going to ground. Think it'd be cool to be inside there in a thunderstorm, but also scary as hell :evil :lol3
