Holy crap! all I gotta say is:
1. I have a Canon Rebel XTI with a cheap Promaster 18-50 lens. I use either that or my little canon SD point and shoot.
2. I learned composition and colors from oil painting (been doing that a lot longer than photography!) and mostly just practice.. Just find something you like to take pictures of (in my case, this is cars!) and just go out and try to get the best photo you can... play with a couple settings... see if that gives you more like what you want... Find other people's photos that you really really like... and see if you cant imitate them with stuff around your house... Wouldn't hurt to snag a basic photography book either... They're full of handy tricks and things to try...
From a foggy ride last year
As much as I like the scenery of the smokies, this is what I love the best:
anybody know where this is
if i remember right it's on the parkway below linville falls with a overlook on one side of the rd and hotel sort of built into the mt on the other side?
thinking about staying there if anybody knows the name
Coming down off the parkway on "the devils staircase" or route 80 this past sunday.
Part of this video/slideshow is in the Ridge and Valley and the Cumberland Mountains of southern WV and western VA, but the remainder is the Blue Ridge...
This is at the intersection of Hwy. 226, 226A, and the BRP. The motel across the road is the Skyline Motel (828-765-9394). There is another one with a restaurant a couple hundred yards from here, Mountain View Motel (828-765-4233). Just up the road is The Switzerland Inn (828-765-2153. Just a few miles from my house.
which one would u stay at? sit on the deck and drink beer? thanks
I'd probably stay at the Switzerland Inn. The others are fine, just overlooking the main road so you will probably hear more trucks going down the mountain. YMHO.
I should have riden my bike, but I took the cage... here's a picture from the Opera Box above Chimney Rock...
I posted more pictures on my blog... www.blueridgetravelguide.com
Cherry Valley, Pennsylvania
Beautiful! (I want to live there!)
My son and I rode for a couple of days last week through the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Smokies. Here's a picture from one of our breaks...
