Love the morning rides, watching the fog lift off the smokies. One of my favorite things to do is leave around 4am and watch the sunrise in my mirror and watch the fog lift out of the valley's as I make my way through.

Best time to ride Deals Gap is early in the morning or just at sunset. 6am on Hwy 28 heading to 129.

    Love the Parkway.

As much as I love these roads... they have a way of reminding you who is boss. One of my best riding partners high sided at 60+mph. This is my reminder every time I enter the mountain roads. They are not a race track and we were treating it like that on that day. Thankfully he walked away. My SPOT tracker was the only way we got help out there that day as there was no cell service. Its worth its weight in gold to me.

Ice still on the BRP in early spring...

No, this isnt a photoshop. Up in Virginia off state road 40 outside of Smith Mountain Lake. Still trying to figure out what came first, the road number or the church.

Love these old barns scattered across the valleys.

The weather isnt always perfect.... Joey's Clearwater Krista's cut through the fog nicely. Looks like a space ship coming at you.

This photo was taken on the other side of the same mountain that above photo was taken, 30 minutes after the above photo. Mountain weather... its hit and miss.

Near Rocky Knob just a few miles north of Mabry Mill. Great views on both sides of the overlook.

I was just at that pullover a couple week ago. Pretty darn cold that day, still blocks of ice laying around.

Here is a pic from a pullout nearby:

Wish I could tell you the exact location, but I honestly don't know where we were. We left out of Cass, WV and rode toward Bluegrass, VA and Monterey, VA. We came down one mountain road to this clearing, and it was the most awe-inspiring place I've ever been on two wheels.

The photo does it zero justice.

Wvdrtbiker was leading the ride, he knows every road in that area and is one of the kinder guys you'll ever meet.
