Excellent! We'll be cheering you on!
As much as I want you to win part of me wants Bob Addis 1923 NeraCar ( scooter ) to come in top .
Yes. I don't know what Shelly Oak is, but I'm rooting for Magneto Man Charles all the way. That Ariel will be impeccably prepped.
Yay! I'm looking for a Brit bike to make a perfect score next year. Come on guys, let's see what you've got!
Selly Oak......the area of Birmingham where the Ariel factory was located.
Yes, the bike will be impeccable in its build. And well documented.....much like your Indian build.
Hopefully the route makes it possible for me to shake both of your hands......
You gotta respect those guys. Coming halfway around the planet to ride across our beautiful country. Fun to hang with and always willing to help.
Thanks Bill! No need to be invisible, come out and see us!
I know! There was a NeraCar in the 2014 race, I'm not sure if it was the same guy. From what I heard he gave it a valiant try, but had trouble making all the miles at the speeds he could go. I'll be watching next year.
Thanks for filling in that detail Rich. That area must have been the place to be in the day, for a motorcyclist on that side of the pond. I'll look forward to meeting you.
I was telling Scott Larson about this movie 'White Knuckle' at AMCA last night, but I couldn't remember the name. I found a link to this trailer, so I figured I'd put out a shameless and unsolicited plug for it. I think it's available on Amazon. It's about the guys that rode the first Motorcycle Cannonball in 2010. In Felicia Morgan's words, "the rockstars of the motorcycle world." My favorite part is Jersey John Szalay's connecting rod story. And I've told him that. Check the trailer. Highly recommended.
The bulk of the Brit bike companies were in the Birmingham area. Makes sense since Birmingham was ground zero for the Industrial Revolution.
Cool film but it makes me wonder if HD cannon baller Have a one up on other brands ? can they get access to one thing indian guys cant , copies of original blueprints of parts ? I Know that HD has put away since it start, one bike for every year and model right off the line , Do they still have the parts blue prints ? Do they let people access them if it's for there old models that are out of production by 50 years or more? It would be cool if HD support there old motorcycles by letting people make blue prints copies of parts that are so old no one makes. More then likely not but it would be nice for those whom are cannoning balling 100 year old hd to have drawing to make up 100% of the parts that go into there bikes. About the only company that still will make you a part for a 1920 something bike is BMW.
Right? When I was rebuilding a BMW /2 six or eight years ago, BMW announced that they were just then running out of /2 fenders. That's for a model that ended production in 1969.
I made a video and some pictures to try and explain what I've learned about the PowerPlus Intake valve train:
