    Hello ,

My name is Jeff , I am a froggy , living in the south of france and I would like to plan a trip on the BAM or Bones Road in Russia in 2018 and I am looking for infos from guys that have been already there

What I am looking for :
    • Any informations that could be useful ...
    • Any contact that can help with info in Russia ( refuelling on the road , spare parts , experience etc etc )
    • Anyone that would like to do the trip with me , as alone I think it is quite risky and tough . A team composed with different nationality will be fun , but alone is also an option :ricky..... If you are interested we can chat by skype and use email instead of the forum
    • Any links with trace or good info ...
    • Any good advise
I still have some contact in Russia but they are not familiar with English and off road riding but I am going to ask some infos .

About me ..already a lot of infos on my blog but feel free to ask
    • Humm not a big writer on advrider...but I sucks a lot of info :clap
    • Met RTWPaul in Russia with his 690 ...:dukegirl:freaky:beer
    • Met also Jussy from Rolling HOBO in OMSK and still in touch
    • I will do the trip with a 690 KTM , 2008 , prepared better than my 990 :pope..
    • Safari tank, Mosko bags, scoit, various protection etc !...
    • I will update the thread and this first post step by step ...2018 is far away but time is running fast
Thanks for any help that will be provided :D

If you haven't already, I'd read the Colebatch ride reports from Sibirsky Extreme and his 2012 ride. In addition to being super entertaining, there's a lot of good info too. Also maybe consider sending him a PM.

If you look on Horizon's they have over 2000 waypoints in Siberia. Pick the ones you think are relevant. Search Russia + waypoints+ horizons.

hey corsaire, I second the recommendation to get the waypoints from HUBB. Also, when I did the trip in 2011 I made a "roadbook" with notes, distances, fuel points, hotels, etc.; it might be a little out of date but probably helpful anyway. PM me with your e-mail addy and I'll send it to you.

Hi Jeff, I'm dayne from the UK, I have rode with you before at the lc8 rally a couple of years ago.
    How are you mate?
I'm really keen to ride the bam road.
Is the plan to ride there and ride back or ship the bikes?

Hi Dayne ..I remember you , no problem ;)
I am at the moment .....2017 is a tough year for me but...c'est la vie
I don't know yet all the details...I have different ideas..in order

    1) Drive from France to Novosibirsk with the 690 inside a small truck like renault Master or similar..I know people at Novosibirsk so I hope could leave the truck there for few weeks in a safe area
    2) Ship the 690 by a professional close from the border ( Ukraine.... lithuania ?? ) ...as shipping directly to russia is complicated ( customs issues)
    3) Ship the 690 to Mongolia....I am already in touch with a guy that know a company that can do that
    4) Ride the 690 from France...but I will need more time and it won't be fun

You can write me at this email : abradenburg_at_yahoo.fr ......We could chat by skype too...Few things could change in the coming months and it will affect my all plan ;)

You have a good memory mate.
I definitely want to do this, not worried about the plan too much as long as we go.
I'll have a chat to you sometime Jeff.
I'd have 4-6 weeks to make the trip, is that enough? How long was you thinking to take?

You have good memory too lol...you remember me :jack:jack

I will ( try ? ) to take 3 months off as I could extend the trip at some others countries ...but things are moving in not so good way in my company and I could have a really longuer time off...unfortunately :( ..The final decision for the trip is also linked to a pro decision ...we will see ..to follow

4 to 6 weeks I think is a minimum... recently a team did 2000 km ( 1242,742 miles ) in ...4 weeks :baldy:baldy ...with KTM 640 and similar ...means not so heavy .... I have been in Russia with the 990 ...and I can remember when it was raining ..mud like hell :pep..tough day on road

Yes I will need a lighter bike for the trip for long hard days off road.
I may be able to get some more time away, anything is possible.
It's an ambitioun of mine to ride the whole bam road, anything else is a bonus.
Are you doing the lc8 rally this year Jeff?

No LC8 Rally this year for me .... I need three weeks vacation in September...... I will try to do a trip in roumania ..on and off road If I can ...for testing the 690 ...the equipment ..I just bought a old house where I live and I have a ton of work to do inside too...I will have to make a choice between fun and constraint with this new house
About the LC8 Rally I can see the page on FB...but I don't know if Thilo is going to do it ...or even organize the event ..it seems that the page is little bit dead ....Are you going ?

I was thinking about going to the lc8 but not so sure now as I'm really busy with work and a house renovation same as you.
I will also be in Romania this year, but on hired enduro bikes.
