i'd guess the builders tagged it, after that maybe the guys who did the upgrade with the boiler plates tagged it.

not interested in playing this game,,, i know vandalism has been around,, but since the easy access of shared info,, its gotten obscenely prolific and has cost us access to some great places.

Sorry to hear it Ned but understand completely. And it's not like this is the last chance you're ever gonna have. Shoot, we may get rained out tomorrow and have to try it again, maybe even after Dirt wolf gets back.

(I also noticed that the dirt section of this ride N of Fr7 crosses Fr664. I've tried to ride Fr664 from WV Rd hoping to get to Anvil Rock Rd and then around to the Seligman area from the west but turned back ... too steep and too rocky for my taste. This may provide the access across Juniper Mesa that I've been looking for -- wanna do some exploring sometime?)

As for weather, boy, it's looking good so far @ 3:30 pm (but no promises). Radar yesterday showed some mostly light to moderate & heavy in spots rain across that whole northern area we'll be riding. But today, hot damn, I only see some light/moderate rain between Williams & Flag. If it keeps up like this, we'll be having hero conditions tomorrow, 'though I wouldn't be at all surprised to see some rain in the afternoon. What's that old saying, "Ride goeth before the douche" or something like that?

Actually you can find the tunnel on at least 5 different websites. It's located on Google Earth. I've been going there for 17 years and there are always Jeeps UTVs and ATVs there. There's not much in AZ that isn't on the web or in one of about 2 dozen off road books. While I don't normally give coordinates I figured this was a safe niche of ADVRider.

What an awesome group & ride today. I have no idea how we managed to zig zag our way through the storms. For the most part we didn't get rained on.
It rained while we dined in Seligman & quit just as we finished.
The tunnel was very cool, thanks 2 spot.
Paul lead us down Perkinsville road, we had a ball play racing on the thumpers.

    Great day.

We made it home me on the 990 and all my fenders. It was great riding with all of you and learning a lot from your tips and just by watching and new experiences. Our trip to IDBDR will be a cakewalk compared to the 240 miles we did today. We did hit some rain but if felt good and didn't last to long. Thanks

    Boy, you guys are tough.

I got home, poured myself a glass of wine and sat down in my easy chair -- and promptly fell asleep! No immediate post-ride postings from me.

Thanks are in order to Refokus and 4play, who did the pre-ride and lead the somewhat technical section yesterday. Many thanks too to 2 SPOT for guiding us to the tunnel -- representing roughly 150 years of engineering goodness, it makes me wonder just how much of what we build today will still be standing in the middle of the 22nd century, particularly when we don't seem to be able to maintain what we do build (sigh). And all credit to @Dirt wolf, who started this whole idea; I'll try to do a repeat ride with him when he gets back from trying to save Washington state from death by fire & smoke.

And thanks to all of you who rode along, it was great to see some familiar faces and to add a buncha new ones.

I didn't get many pix but as proof that it did happen:

Part of the group on WV Rd. just south of Walnut Creek Rd.

and 2 SPOT, a late arrival, right where FR 7 takes off of WV Rd
    DSCN0700.JPG

I'm still amazed at how well we managed to avoid the deluges promised by the thunderclouds and dense showers all around us ('tho 2 SPOT and I did get pretty wet on our way to join the rest of the group.) And anybody wanting to do this ride again, please note that the AzDOT has stolen the eastbound Devil Dog exit in pursuit of some major road repairs. The westbound exit is still open-- we had to go on to Williams and flip-flop on I40, which wasn't all that much of an imposition.

One last memory in closing: I've lost count of the number of times I've ridden down from Williams on Perkinsville Rd and have often admired the views it presents but yesterday, damn!, between the dramatic lighting from the clouds, a heavy rain squall to the west, the incredible greenness of the valleys below, and the dark presence of the Mingus & Bradshaw Mtns ahead -- well, I guess this sort of thing is near the top of the list of "Reasons Why I Ride".

    Cheers, all

Oh yea that was a great ride. Thanks Capeman for keeping the cats properly herded and on trail, solid wagon train leading there.
Thanks 2 spot for the tunnel tour, that was very cool to go see, and 4play for the fast thumper fun. Really had a blast and saw alot of places Ive never been.
Great group of riders, was a pleasure to meet you all.
Heres a few pics I managed, in no particular order.
Did anybody else see the two ghost riders in the tunnel? Chills.

Wow! My idol when I was learning to race! Still get goosebumps when I hear the phrase "On Any Sunday". I see a lot of Orange in that collection.
