I haven't read any of the replies, so maybe this has already been mentioned...

Have you thought about selling premium memberships? For a certain yearly, one time, etc. cost, supporting members would get a banner under their name showing they are supporting members, no ads, maybe a sticker, maybe a special subforum? Maybe a dual Smugmug/advrider membership for a little more than just the Smugmug membership fees.

I post on a lot of different forums, and I always buy a supporting membership in the ones I'm really active on.

Whichever way you end up going, thanks for setting up and keeping this awesome site going.

Doing certain things is a bit cumbersome from my Android phone, but simply browsing is no problem at all.

Again iPhone newbie here; so if that’s the case then the issue I have must be my small screen size on this SE model. Which I guess makes sense given that when using my wife’s 8 the homepage is much larger . On my phone I see only a list of subform titles or alternately thread titles No other information or columns are displayed. I thought it might be that ADV was not actually a mobile site?

This is what it looks like on my 6S Plus, works just as well as on a normal browser, even uploading pics is great.

Turn your phone to landscape, you'll pick up some real estate.

For now the xenforo responsiveness is what we're going with for mobile. Baldy did a really amazing job with the move from the old vbulletin software to xenforo (i've seen it done poorly more often then not). We're still on Tapatalk if you need an app. Might look at a ADV specific app at some point but for now seems like things are working well on mobile so we'll focus on fixing some other things like moving to secure HTTPS, optimize images to reduce the bandwidth the site uses on mobile etc.

If i had three goals in life right now it would be to keep baldy happy, keep my girlfriend happy and keep political / weight loss ads off of ADV :thumb

This is a no-brainer to me... We have several members here that design fantastic rally shirts and rally posters. Hit them up for the design.

I used to use Tapatalk but dumped it when Adv allowed picture uploads. It’s good as is. Just wondered if anything better is down the road. Thanks again.

Yes just the same here The iPhone SEis basicallyA five screen wise. The only thing I noticed is that my wife’s iPhone eight particularly on the ADV home screen seems to display exactly as it would on a laptop for example. It seems like my limited screen is actually a limitation of my small phone screen and not a mobile Version versus a desktop version of the site

On my Galaxy S7 the only major difference I see is when displayed in landscape mode all the stuff on the right side of the home page is accessed via a clickable link at the bottom directed to "Sidebar." In portrait mode everything compacts down and overlaps so, e.g., I can't access alerts but instead get sent to my profile page.

A bit weird, but not particularly annoying.

Yep. I suspect those limitations are built into the phone browser to give you the "best" browsing experience within the limits of your screen size. If I decide to upgrade to an S8 or S9 (unlikely as my S7 suits me fine) then I suspect the peculiarities I mentioned in my prior post would be eliminated.

Honestly I did not expect to be web browsing at all on this SE but it is surprisingly convenient to do so.
The main feature of this phone which attracted me is actually the smaller size of the unit as a whole, ironically.
Browsing this site, or the web in general, on my wife's iPhone eight is much like using a very small iPad in both usability and appearance which probably should've been my clue that the phone screen size was the source of my consternation. :deal

I just wanted to put in my .02 on some of the recent changes but first thanks for all you do to Baldy, Admin, and the Mods.

I have seen the ads appearing on the home page before I login then they are gone. I really appreciate the small steps approach you all are doing and I am confident you will be able to transition this site to its future but keep the Adv spirit.

Hats Off! lads and keep up the good work.

    Cheers, Chris

I'm curious if Advrider gets any money from Tapatalk ads? The reason I ask is because even though I paid for Tapatalk it would sometimes get in a mode where it was showing me ads when browsing Advrider, both before and after the switch to Zenforo. Seems pretty slimy that Tapatalk would be making money off Advrider and not giving anything back. I've since gone to just using a browser for this site because Zenforo works fine without Tapatalk.

Why use Tapatalk when ADV is so mobile friendly since the software switch to Xenforo?
Try ADV on your mobile browser without Tapatalk, you will be surprised how good it is.

The new tech team @rudy1220 should nuke Tapatalk.

Yea once we tackle some other high priority items we'll do a deeper dive on pros and cons of keeping Tapatalk. XenForo has really helped with the mobile experience and keeping it mobile web instead of focusing on mobile app.

Thank you for all that ADVrider is and all that you and others have made it. This was the first forum I ever joined and almost 12 years later, still having fun and enjoying everything about it. Looking forward to the next chapter - regardless of what is required to keep it going. :)
