Lookin great Ray. Don't get to far along without getting the airbox in. You have to take the shock loose and maybe take off the rear wheel to get it in. Trust me...........I know.

    :rofl
I'm the fool who started that premix thread. :cry
(seriously, some good posts and info in that thread)
I used Klotz Super Techniplate, 80% synth 20% bean oil, 32:1 mix. Fired it up, NO smoke boiled out, had me worried, seems wrong, ha!

OK, so you got the humor in my post...
Wish I could have heard it fire off!
I still have close to a full gallon jug of modern day Blendzall.
I fire the DT1 up once in awhile just to sniff the exhaust!
    Congrates!! :clap

Going to paint the old tank this weekend; working on polishing up the old plastics:

It is a running machine. Not yet ready for the desert, will get the plastics on this weekend, paint the tank. The carb is leaking out of the overflow tube - might be the float level or the needle/seat - easy fix either way.

Took the bike out to the desert for a test ride on Sunday:

Got back to the house in one piece. Several adjustments were needed - brakes, shifter/rear brake lever positions, etc. Those bars had to go, too low when standing on the pegs. Put the old stock bars back on, tried to straighten them a bit. Got the side covers polished up and installed. Got a cool desert tank from Scootern29. Will get more pics later.

Got a Malcom Smith desert tank from Scootern29. I think it holds 11 gallons of fuel. :rofl

Ordered a grommet for the petcock, arrived today. Will get petcock installed then go for a desert ride. Should be able to ride all day long on one tank:

I think they are the stock YZ bars. They were on the bike when I bought it. I will look at those Fly Vinatage bars; might be something I'd like. These old bars are slightly bent - not too bad, it's rideable and I don't notice the tweaks. I just have a thing about bent handle bars.

Got the petcock on! Went for a desert ride.

Got an air box on order from vintage mx - http://www.vintagemx.us/cgi-bin/swapmeet.cgi - and new uni filter NU-2221ST air filters from Dennis Kirk. Always more work to be done.
Next big project: pull off the head and the cylinder and check the bottom end, it sounds like it is ready to grenade. Got a tip from my Yamaha shop about a local fellow who rebuilds the old 2-smokers; called him and he sounded enthusiastic, said to bring it over, said he can do ports and everything else. COOL.
