Thanks for the info AL i have been considering taking the ferry one way not sure yet probably take it up and ride back, if they ask what my occupation is i'll probably have to take the ferry both ways. My brother lived in Alaska for 4 years he brought me a belt buckle back the clear glass looking ones that had a mosquitoes in it that was the size of a wasp, thanks again

Well, if your on one of the ferries headed south, more than likely you will stop for a few hours in Sitka. Contact me, pm me and I can show you the ropes.

I'm also on the bigger tent band wagon. Thought I needed to save space/pounds on my Sept trip and took a 1 man tent....... Was like sleeping in a body bag and even with two vestibules there was not room for my crap. Should have taken my old ugly beat up eureka 2+........ Just my 2 cents worth.....

I hope to do Alaska soon!! Ride safe and enjoy!!

I lived in Alaska years ago, so I thought I was pretty experienced on mosquitos. That was until I went to Eagle -- worst mosquito experience of my life. I must have hit it just at the right time. Great place to visit; it would have been even better without the mosquitos. Ugh.

I'm going to second going through the Revelstoke area as mentioned on a previous page. I went through there on my way home in 2015. I camped in a pretty nice provincial park on Canada day. There's some really nice paved riding in the area and a little motorcycle museum and cafe I stopped at. Here's a link.

The food was fine, neat little place. My time in the area was really enjoyable.

Hi StacyJ I am in CO, and member of the BMW Motorcycle Club of Colorado. I am not a GS expert but if you need GS support or have questions about your trip let me know, maybe I can plug you into one of the human encyclopedias that I occasionally ride with. Where in CO are you headed out from, if I may ask?
