6.15 @ Safety Bay Road
Will confirm Friday night
I'm taking the car down as I need a fairly quick return on Sunday, and really the car is cheaper to run :huh, probably have my offsider with me anyway
OK I count 7 for food, so I'll grab 10 BBQ packs, get some bread from the bakery down there and some sauces and a special salad for Howard.
I'll be heading down to try and make the 10 AM start, but want to do some dirt down there....so Dwellingup, Nanga, may cut East to some smaller tracks towards Asquith OR
from Nanga continue on Tullanulla to Collie and then south to Nannup, picking more dirt along the way there.
I reckon I will leave home [Doubleview] at 6:00, giving 4 hours to get there ~ 270 km's.
Jamie & Ian let me know what your plans are ....I'm happy to adjust.
Koos' the first spectator point is closer to Kirup or Balingup so you might want to head straight there cos there's no action at the start in Nannup
Spectator guide here.http://www.quitforestrally.com.au/images/2014/Documents/2014_Quit_Forest_Rally_SPECTATOR_GUIDE.pdf
I had planned to leave Kelmscott at 7.00-ish, smell the roses on the way down and get there whenever,
at the speed that I ride, I should be there before dark
I have emailed a Garmin file, of the rough route I intend to take, to you and Jamie.
Jamie to the Bat-phone.
Helping a mate re locate to Denmark
Good luck to hillbilly
May be a day ride on Sunday could be on the cards
looks like we have Jim Cairns and Ferret with us for the weekend, look out Nannup.
Good luck Howard.
And enjoy the weekend the rest of ewes.
Chance of a morning shower to settle the dust on Saturday and possible Sunday arvo rain.
Looking forward to a good ride, bit of rally action and a nosh up with you guys Sat night.
Best of luck Hillbilly and see you Sat morning at 6:15. I will be on the overpass by 6am watching for you. Up to you if you get off or just cruise straight by and l will swing in behind you. It will still be dark though so will have keep my eyes peeled. Don't want to slow your progress down and rush the start.
See ya's Sat.
Staying upright and not coming last are my goals for the weekend.
Ambitious I know, but we'll see how we go.
Ian & Koos will leave Byford Caltex around 7 AM and head down via Dwellingup > Nanga > Tullanullu > Collie > more dirt to the Special close to Balingup.
Hoping to be there to see the motos come through.
Will catch the rest around there or in Nannup.
Good luck Howard
I left down there this morning Howard had managed to keep it upright all day yesterday. Grabbo had a nice little chat to some of us about Dakar and his commitments (or lack of ) for the year. No Warren or Matt this year though the field was down to 10. Be interesting to see what happens next year.
Mission accomplished. No crashes and no damage and finished in the top ten.
Thanks to all that came down for a look and to lend a hand.
well ridden Howard....top 10 finish hey....they'll be paying you appearance money soon..have to get some posters made up to sign for the kiddies and girls, I'm sure Neil can find a couple of photo's to use.
Might have to get Jim to plan a route down to the farm for a weekend ( he's good at that stuff ).
Well done Howard, awesome riding on the big girl and great to see.
Davey, good on you for helping Howard for the weekend.
Bully thanks for the arranging the accommodation and organising dinner and brekky supplies
.and the guard dog. Big thank you to Ken & Trish for the Nannup hospitality.
Ian thank you for company and the route down to Nannup
..everyone for the companionship and putting up with the when we were riding in Bolivia
*I made it home from the QFR ok. Just slabbed it home on the hwy due to an ever increasing fluid leak.
It really made itself known 10km out of Nannup where on closer inspection the tell tale under the water pump had a mixture of fluids coming out of it. Mostly coolant.
$122 in parts and l should be up for a test run this Sunday to Poppo food van for lunch or somewhere similar.
Great weekend although l may have had a sleep in the gutter for a while at one stage, have to wait for photographic evidence. Good company/food and exciting cars and bike to watch.
Hillbilly sure can ride that big girl around. Great stuff.
Top weekend chaps, well done Howard and Bully.
Went home on a bit of dirt and a bit of tar, the bit of tar felt a lot longer than usual on the Two Fiddy.
Well done to hillbilly and support crew
Killed the pig so to speak
What's the feed back on the 21 in and the damper
