I just picked up a clean '02 R1150GS with what I think are the factory crashbars. They might be the ADV bars? Anywho..... Looking at an oil change, there's mounting tabs on the bottom of the bars with a 'strap' for lack of a better description. That strap and tabs are external to the skid plate, but use the same mounting holes. Looking at this to get the skid plate off, you have to get the bars off, but there's a top bolt behind the gas tank on both sides. Do these bars pivot at the top bolt on the engine when the bottom ones are removed? If not, it's looking like the gas tank has to come up to get to the top bolt? Or is there just some simple trick to getting the skid plate out of the way with these? Can anyone shed some light on this one? Topside Bottom side .
