OK I'm thinking of getting a 1200GS well I have a couple of bikes in mind, anyway, I'm focusing on this bike for now I have to admit I know nothing about Boxers and whether they are durable and long lasting, if it was a K100 I wouldn't care that much about the Ks as I know that 100,00ks is nothing for the old K series, but what about these new Boxers, so how many Ks is to many for the big 1200GS and while I'm at it the R1200R as well.

I apologise if this is a regular post.

I must be one of the unlucky ones then with a front stanchion failure on my way to Birdsville on my 2014 model Adventure, and a final drive meltdown/fire on my 2009 model.

I loved the way they ride, but can't trust the brand any longer. Do a lot of research, and make sure you check that any recalls have been acted upon should you choose a pre loved unit.

    Good luck.

There are some horror stories for sure.

However, I've owned 3 current gen boxers and have ridden another 3 all over Europe, the UK and the IoM without a problem...

Redback if your thinkin about it (A 'GS) .....your givin it Way too much thought!

I don't knows much, but I do know mine is unbelievable thru the twisties.
They'll go with you as much as you want, and hang well and truly with the sportsbike boys....

And then ( with 70/30 off road tyres) just hit the picks, turn left and do as much *FireRoads / trails as you desire.
*Standing in the Mx Attack possie they are rock solid....sit down and they can get a bit skitterish.

As said above turn t the Boxer Thread or the GS Info site out of UK.

Like all BM's each individual bike will have its own personality !!
And from time to time can command its own piece of skin.

I remember when this picture came out at the time that BMW did finally admit that they had problem with the fuel nipple cracking and let fuel coming out...

There were several recall between 2005 and 2015.. I trust the bike, but I don't like the unprofessional way of BMW handling the recalls... Some of them I actually had to call BMW just to get confirmation than Yes, my vin number was on the list... WTF.. How hard his to send an email to the owner, in the same way as when the recall has become public...

I’m sure bmw have worked the issues out of the 1200 but the 1150 oilhead was the last of the beemers before the overkill electronic disease that seems to invade the modern day bikes.

And the first 1200s had more than their share of electron woes
