Dakar 2018....I have an idea.......and as a long term ADV Rider and contributor I believe this might just be something great, especially for all you people that love to follow the race.

After following the Dakar for years and getting frustrated how little is actually shared, I've always been thinking how I can do something different to help fill that void and bring a more 'true to life" experience. Well, the opportunity is here but I need help. Please take the time to watch the video and read the Kick Starter page, it is important to understand that this is NOT to fund my Dakar, this is about getting the funds together to enable daily video releases like never seen before, its for the followers (you!). We always hear how bad the coverage of Dakar is, well, lets try and make a change together. I can't do this alone but thing we can considerably improve it together.

I need your help sharing on as many media channels as possible, we have just 22 days left to hit the target and pull this off. You have my word I'll put 100% in as always.

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/62691083/races-to-places-live-dakar-rally-2018-ft-lyndon-po

If you don't know who I am or want to confirm my credibility for being a contributor to ADVmoto media, please check out www.racestoplaces.com or any of my media channels on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or even the threads I have in this place.

Thanks so much in advance, lets do great things together.

    Rally regards,

    Lyndon

C'mon you FFs, this is easily the best value for your entertainment dollars! Remember Lyndon flopping down the river bed on his back at 60mph...he was doing that just for footage. Let's get him some money so he doesn't have to do that shit this time. That's probably what cost him 1st place
Edit: I posted this in the Crazy Dakar racers, thought I'd put it here as well

Both are people I trust and have been working with me for a long time on both Races to Places and racing media projects. You think they are lucky? I couldn't imagine trying to edit in a moving vehicle It's going to be a lot of work for everyone involved.

Aint that the truth! haha. I'm going to try and avoid flopping this time. I might still poo though

It's time to get back ON IT!

This coming January I will go back to the Dakar and Race the Malle Moto class once again. I will use the same bike that I did last year, Rex bike and will be giving him a full rebuild beforehand. I hope to share my progress and updates throughout my preparation and planning, exactly like I have in previous years.

This year I will take a media crew with me to share the experience like never before and I will also support various TV channels in their efforts to get interesting media to the viewers.

Dakar 2013 thread was here: http://advrider.com/index.php?threa...ue-print-for-dakar-2013-and-he-did-it.777301/

Dakar 2017 thread was here: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/races-to-places-dakar-2017-with-lyndon-poskitt.1123058/

Please do not post or share any links to fund raising campaigns here, this thread is to share cool pictures, videos and updates as I get ready once again to compete in the big one.

This thread is for the updates to my progress and preparation and for people to follow in 'Racing', the forum where this stuff belongs. Please leave it here and I'll do my best to ensure the rules are adhered to.

Enjoy following and I hope to bring you great updates and new look at Dakar this coming January.

    Many thanks, Lyndon

Would you like to receive FREE, DAILY, MEDIA coverage of the 2018 Dakar from an ADVrider Inmate's point of view?

    This doesn't happen by itself.

Then support Lyndon's efforts to fund a vehicle, driver, pro videographer and video editor.
And the Dakar licensing rights and the daily satellite link.

Lyndon will race Dakar 2018, he has different sponsors for that.

The free daily media idea is Lyndon's idea to give back, to share with the world.

Lyndon is taking his own time and money to organize the capability to bring free daily media coverage of the 2018 Dakar.

Like having one of your own giving an inside view to what the premier rally in the world is like.

Lyndon has a kickstarter project to fund the free daily media. LINK

Did I say "FREE DAILY MEDIA" enough?

    I supported Lyndon's project

EDIT: It appears as though the links are back. Leads me to believe the moderators are allowing it now? In any case, my response to Ed (below) may not apply anymore.

    Ed,

Lyndon specifically said to not post links to his fundraising efforts in his initial post above. Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but I wanted to warn you before the moderators do. This has been a big issue with the moderators lately; Lyndon's threads have been locked (R2P thread) and closed (previous Dakar 2018 thread) as a result of people posting the Kickstarter links where they are not allowed to be posted (Ask me how I know...). I would remove the Kickstarter link, and probably remove the mention of Kickstarter altogether. Sorry to be harsh, but I don't want to see this thread get closed down, too. Cheers.

G'day Peeps (as Pyndon might say) :wave

In the traditions of the f5 DAKAR's of past and ADVRider.com RACING forums unwavering involvement with the DAKAR Rally each January; the downstairs management have taken it into consideration, and agree that Pyndon's 2018 DAKAR assault is in keeping with the support we have shown to many inmates and contributors in past years.

Lyndon will likely be by in a while to get things rolling along, and I have done my inept best to reinstate those posts that are of key importance to the "kickstarter" initiative that our mates Pyndon and Rex have planned for this year... :wings

But I reiterate, please keep THIS thread about the sharing of information, experiences, photo's and input/discussion about Lyndon's DAKAR effort... there will be a thread in VENDORS where all sorts of kit, swag and other goodies (where applicable) - as well as the "kickstarter" packages - can be administered... keep THIS thread about the stories and happenings that WILL be Pyndon's third go 'round in the big one this coming January.

    Thanx

    The management. :thumbup

Hi folks, Just collected the bike from EICMA show and I have just 8 days to full rebuild it and prepare everything before Le Havre. It's going to be a super busy week :-)

I'd like to thank the moderators for letting this thread back in. ADV Rider has been a solid part of my ability to share everything I do over the last 12 years or so it was nice to see them allowing this back in. The support and encouragement from ADV Riders is also huge so I didn't feel complete without it.

We are still full speed ahead on the media vehicle but not quite there yet with the funding for that.

Thank you to everyone for the support they are showing, looking at the Google analytics, there a slow dribble of supporters coming through from ADV Rider which is really nice to see, I really appreciate that.

I'll update with some pictures in the coming days but first just need to get my head down and crack on.

    Beck soon.

    I'm in !

This is the third year that we have supported Lyndon's Dakar campaign - and our involvement all started because of ADV Rider and Pyn's well known thread on his 950. Cutting a long story short, the information, knowledge and videos he posted there proved invaluable to my business is solving issues on a bike, I was a keen Dakar fan, and when he announced he was racing Dakar 2013, we got in touch with him - the rest, as they say, is history...........

Pyn may be a little quiet over coming days - Rex was on display with Motorex at EICMA in Milan until last Sunday evening - leaving Pyn with about 10 days to get Rex back home to the north of England, stripped down to a bare frame, checked over and rebuilt ready to go through technical checks and loading in Le Havre on 23/24 November. He's a little busy and in with all the bike preparation he's trying to put a full media/video package together to cover the rally - I think he's mad (but in a nice way :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap)

A few shots from Milan and bike preparation

Big thanks to advrider for loosening up their promo and rev paranoia so we can follow along and support Pyn on this incredible "Dakar competitor embeded as moto journalist/ on camera host".

Finally someone in Pyn to wake Thierry Sabine out of his permasleep to revel in this media revelation.

Maybe advrider can actually create it's first ever ad campaign around the Pyn series: "Dakar, Live On Stage With Lyndon Poskitt".

Again, fingers crossed for no pre race boinks... For gosh sakes wrap yourself in bubble wrap until race day. Please, no marathons...

My one suggestion... Make visor type tear offs for all your onboard and field cameras.

    And Give 'Em Hell Baby!!!

    Poduim Malle Moto!

I just checked my email. The project is fully funded! :clap

I've been proud and happy I have been able to help support Lyndon's racing since the guys here and he did the Baja on that crazy 950. He and Ned have improved my riding and given me countless hours of entertaining reading.
There have been a lot of racers to Dakar we've seen through Advrider.com. It has been fun following along and a wonderful opportunity to support when I could.
I am really looking forward to following along live with Lyndon's effort this year at the Dakar.
His Life with a 950 thread lead me to eventually find my own LC8. This Races 2 Places thread and videos and talks have made me daydream of an LC4RFR. :imaposer
That won't ever happen, but I've got that 990 down in the shed I can play with when I can.
Man, this is going to be a fun Dakar for us watching.

    Go Lyndon!
