    Go Radek, GO!!

Keep an eye on this or do some hard riding with it asap. I've had two of these on bikes come in the shop. Both were eating dirt from the bottom side. Over tightened, as it's just a feel thing and no rim to keep the filter from moving out of round. Both had the main filter removed, or torn apart. so engine was eating dust and dirt and they didn't even know.

If you like to run a CPR foam filter setup on the 990 ADV, let me know, I have a TEST unit here I could send you. Last ones we tested worked great in the Mexican 1000. Little to no maintenance. It has so much more surface area than the "Snorkel" setups.

Email me if I can be of help.

    Good luck and Ride Safe.:clap

Super cool you're doing it on your 990.
My son and I met you at Kiki's in 2008 tearing down your bike. Didn't realize you were a fellow Canadian at the time.
I'll be spectating the race this year by myself, and will be watching for you.
What pit service are you using this time? I'll try to time it so I'll be at one around San Felipe as you come through, and see how you're doing.
    Cheers :1drink

I put together a Team Chain Slayer tshirt for this race. If you want to support us, please pick one up.

I had a busy weekend trying to get my bikes and gear sorted. I was hoping to leave for Mexico today but I think I'll be delayed one more day.

Most of this weekend I worked on my preride bike. This is the bike that blew up on us in our documentary, but has now been restored from the ground up with love and attention.

Received all the replated and reseated top end pieces

Thing in Baja vibrate, rub and short out so metal on the bike near wires is insulated and all wires wrapped in tape or rubber tube.

    Isn't she sexy?

    2006 KTM 525 XC
    - KTM 540 big bore w/ 12.5:1 piston
    - FCR-MX 41
    - 8/33 cams
    - ht racing oil cooler

I took a lot of care to build this preride bike up because in case my 990 has issues preriding 3000 miles before the race, the 540 will go into service for the race.

On another note, I took the 540 out to break in the engine today and I was blown away by the agility of it. I have been riding my 990 for the last 2 years and I think I have forgotten how nimble a dirt bike is. I could hit corners so much faster on this little bike. It was like piloting a jet fighter instead of a 747. Or a better analogy..., it's like riding a dirt bike instead of a 1000cc adventure bike :)

So now back to the shop to put the finishing touches on the race bike.

Best of luck radek - your an inspiration for all us Canadians!

I hope you have packed/carrying proper front and rear axle nut wrenches for the 990 (from watching your documentary...)

Ok guys.... 4X is on the move. Leaving the great white north and headed towards California and then Mexico.
I'm doing the preride ironman too so it's just me and the bikes on the road. If anyone wants to meet up let me know.

Prerun and Race bike and tires and gear.

Check out the high fender 990 light mount from CJ Designs. I'm going to have 4 lights there.

Inside the truck is full too.

It's going to be a long drive so may as well work out

    Good luck Radek!

Hide those new, unmounted tires when cross the border, they don't like you "importing" them.
