I don't switch mine back and forth either. I would be very hard pressed to do it in 30 minutes though. I think it would take quite a bit longer but I have quite a few extra items on there.

There is no tach on the SE - just an instrument cluster containing the speedo, idiot lights, etc.

I agree that the low beam is worthless. I haven't upgraded mine yet.

was just going through your past posts found this.

    sorry mate i missed this.
looks like you got yours sorted anyway. was no reason with using H1 but i was thinking about the H3 also.

just an update with the 3 piece kit - upgrading the lights to 55W 6K HID's from the stock i really recommend doing & with tinted goggles i still see well in 05:00 pitch black mornings on country roads to work.
the raid kit gets a BIG thumbs up from me. i use my bike every day to & from work rain , hail & shine. i've had no issues at all.
up to 120KPH is sweet the wind buffeting around my ear level starts at around 140KPH & up :D for my 6' 3" body.

Threw caution to the wind, sold everything I could sell (the wife didn't fetch what I was after, so she is still there :D...) and ordered up the RD marathon kit...

Earlier in the thread the buffeting was reduced by removing the poly screen to reduce the vacuum caused, was there another solution? on my last build I lifted the poly screen using some spaces, not sure if you can see it from the pictures below. As I don't have the kit yet has anyone managed to mount this forward or another solution other than just leave it off?

Or is it all resovled with the additional lip?

p.s. sorry its a transalp, still got ktm suspension though :clap

I picked one up a while ago. I just don't have the time to make it fit. If someone wants this make me an offer.. I just rattle caned it flat black easier to look at while I was trying to figure out mounts. It's going to need some fitting to get it straight.

Anyone have a long term update? Did you stick with it, does it stand up to crashes? Would you buy it again if you had to do it all over again?

They look great! Guys that make it are fantastic to work with and the billet work and design are brillant. If you plan on doing rallys I'd say it would be great and the perch options are almost limitless and you can get a lot of stuff protected behind it. But, yup, always a but... if you are looking to make a bike that looks like a rally bike, but use it on the trails and slab, that's where I'd have to say try to find one and ride it first to see if you like it. It has a specific purpose in my mind. Mine did not hold up to a crash, but I didn't expect it would. Billet work held up fine, but mask cracked down the middle. Of course, key is not to crash. Almost anything on these bikes gets destroyed when you crash as they are just too top heavy and tyically come down hard even if just falling off the stand. But, ride em hard enough and they will see mother earth in a horizonatal light. Also, you loose sight of the front wheel, and at high speed across the open desert or when slabbing you can get away with it. But when in the technical stuff and climbing and decending it's tough when you can't see the wheel. As for high speed slabbing, its got a buffeting that I'd equate to the 1190. Not really too bad, but seeing how the SE mask must have been made in a NASA wind tunnel, any buffetting on the SE is worse than a stock SE set up. I opted for the HID lights and they did not throw a flood or spot as good as my LEDs do. I expect you can get LEDS for it, I'm just saying mine had HIDs (not sure how powerful) and I did'nt care for them when slabbing at night and they were slow to warm up. just my opinion, hope this helps. Bottom line, doing a rally = two-thumbs up. Anything else, you'll live with some negative trade-offs IMO. Buts that's not just this fairing, but putting any rally set up on the SE and not using it for a rally purpose. Ymmv.

I've spoke with Dim quite a bit http://www.perfect-fairings.com/en/products/show/ktm-950se-complete-kit_334 just recently about there 690 Kits , He seems to be top guy to deal with will happily answer any questions with proof of quality. being this is a 950 fairing can't see any problem with the fb or cf fairings. As for crash damage well fall hard enough OFC going to brake any rally fairing will.
That's were RAID DESIGNS was my choice being the 3 piece making it cheaper in parts replacement (would be nice they upgraded using the clear 450 style screen as others doing with the 690) Lighting i ugraded mine using PHILLIPS 6000K there perfect , went through shit loads HID's these i found the best , i got good spot & spread that's needed in OZ for them roo's pop in from the side of the roads. only other brand i'd use is BAJA DESIGNS. Another Bonus with the Raid Designs Fairing is 2 x allen bolts (1 x either side) its off for fast maintenance.
