We've been stopped about 5 times in Colombia so far by the police; they want to check documents and seize any opportunity to squeeze out a bribe. So far with strategic ignorance I've limited my pay out to $10 once, but that was only because I had zero documents for myself or the motorcycle on me (they were all in our friends apartment in Cartagena). I see this more as a cheap ticket than a bribe.

And one more nugget... Probably our best section of riding this trip was between Guadalupe and La Paz in the department of Santander. Do it!

What's not to like about traveling to new places, meeting new people, and being with the one you love? Life is good! Hopefully more photos up tomorrow as we'll be in San Augustin for another night.

Hopefully I'll get some photos put together and up in the next day or so. We're currently in Quito enjoying some local hospitality.

Hopefully we're off towards the Amazon today, though our plans are pretty fluid, so we'll see where life and the road take us!

Merry Christmas!! Episode 15: Colombia Part 4 is now available. Colombia blew us away with its beautiful scenery, extremely friendly people, and fun to ride roads. You should go check it out!

After a Christmas spent with diarrhea, death burps, vomiting, and terrible gas, I can still be thankful for the hospitality of the world as our Ecuadorian hosts have allowed me to recover a bit and allowed us to have Christmas dinner with their family. Now comes the hard part, deciding which route to enter Peru - coast or mountains?

And as for the origin of my stomach malady - I blame the Hari-Krishna community we stayed with overnight a couple days ago!

Sometimes a short in the KLR wiring leads to a dead motorcycle. Which leads to 6 hours on the side of the road. Which leads to getting towed to a friendly local's house. Which turns into two days sharing life with a local family, even when the bike is fixed. Which is priceless.

Isn't that why we travel and adventure?
