Would that affect a fuel injected bike Ray? Because that's what I did with the Vee, let it sit a while after putting it in. If that's the case I know what I did wrong and it won't happen again :clap

Not as bad with FI. It will still attract moisture in the tank. If it sits a while the first gulp the engine gets has a high water content in it. Most newer FI bikes are designed to handle ethanol but storage still is an issue. Ethanol enriched fuel will not store as long as straight gasoline. Rust in a steel tank is the biggest problem a newer bike will see (other than just old gas).

Now on bikes like I have esp the Ascot (over 30 yrs) that shit kills it. Even the 01' V Max had issues when I got it and it had been sitting for a few months. The Sea foam helped but still ended up having the carbs ultrasonicly cleaned to get them right. I wish more places sold straight gasoline here.

So I headed up to TPS in Garner Saturday to ride the Super Tenere. I asked earlier in the week if I could ride it at the Raliegh store but they couldn't make it happen. While up in the area, I got to ride a GS 800 and 1200, a Tiger 800xc and also a Multistrada. You guys are lucky to have so many dealers in your area. We only have one crappy Honda/Suzuki shop in Wilmington.

I really loved the Duc but it's not really what I'm after, I just always wanted to ride one. The BMWs were ok but too tall for me to really feel comfortable on. The Tiger was a really sweet machine, way nicer imo then the 800 beemer. It took me a while to find them in Ray Price HD. They were tucked in one little corner, out of sight from the entrance.

That brings me to the Super Tenere. Wow! I was blown away by that bike. smooth and powerful with ergos that were almost perfect for me. I wasn't crazy about the wind screen, it gave me a fair bit of buffeting on what felt like the top of my head, but easy enough to fix. other then that I loved it. They had the blue demo with just over 100 miles on it, and a brand new white one.

Now before I go any further, I will tell you that I really liked team powersports, the dealer was really nice and spent a good bit of time with me. The test ride was guided by a female, in shorts, riding some kind of sport bike. The shop as I'm sure many of you know is well stocked with bikes and gear and it was very busy in there on Saturday. The salesman said they were willing to sell the demo and told me I'd be able to get it for a good price. While I really love the look of the white one, I would take whatever color if the price was that good. I told him to give me the numbers and he came back with 14k otd! I thought he was pulling my leg at first, but nope, that was his "best price". He's got to be smoking something. I made it very clear that I've been paying close attention to what these bikes were selling for and that I had no problem doing a fly and buy if that's what got me the best price. That's almost 2k more then a 0 mile leftover even after taxes. Looks like I'm heading out of the area. it's a shame too, I really liked the shop and would have liked to have a relationship with a dealer close to home. I found one in TN for 11.5k otd. I'd just have to pay NC's 3% tax when I registered it.

Fly and ride? Don't threaten a good time on this thread! :evil

Now that you've ridden it and like it, you might ought to check what other dealers can do. Sandhills Motorcycles in Pinehurst is a Yamaha dealer. Great people at that dealership. They've ordered Super Ten's for a few guys, but never keep them in stock. They said that they just don't get enough foot traffic looking for them to warrant tying up the cash.

I think everyone looking for a big adventure tourer goes through the same list. I probably read every review, article, thread, ride report, and youtube video for all of those bikes before picking the Tenere. Happy medium between street bike and dirt bike at the right price.

As far as TPS goes, they really had no idea what they were selling when I bought it. They had only sold a couple before me and we were still kind of shocked that they were moving. I know I had the first set of side cases that went through there. Disappointing but not surprised they're putting their foot down to make a few bucks off them. I'll be sure to have a few smart assed comments ready when I head in there for the 4000 mile service.

And the windscreen is a pretty common complaint. $150 fixes it. http://www.madstad.com/s.nl/sc.7/category.3189/.f I'll be picking it up when the tax return comes in. And that'll be it for farkles for a while. Side cases, windscreen/gps mount, and :ricky

I could not afford a Tenere.
I just want to find someone to trade me a Versys for my V Max. :D

My knees hate the peg position and Foward controls for the Max are $600 +/- $100. :eek1
When I first rode the V Max in 1989 I fell in love with it's power and styling. I still do but my body has been beaten and battered so it no longer likes to be on it for more than 30 minutes. :cry

I ride the Ascot almost 90% of the time

I've been very unimpressed with TPS in Garner. Every time I've gone in there with someone they've assumed that person was my boyfriend and talked to them and ignored me. When I've gone in there alone so I can get someone to talk to me, they don't have what I'm interested in. Even though my bike is a POS I've gotten nothing but great treatment and prices from Barnett's. Hopefully one day I'll have more money and I can spend some of it there.

We all know you silly girls are just along for the ride and aren't going to make any real decisions anyway.

Talk to the man. That's the way to sell things.

Most dealers are straight up good people. Not all employees are perfect. Profit margins on bikes are slim. Rent isn't free. Give them a break and get to know them.

I think TPS and Barnetts are both great dealerships. I am glad they still have their doors open in times like this. Just my 2 cents

They sold me a charged battery for the 250 and didn't charge me a premium for it, even though I was pretty much stranded on campus and they could have. I called a few other places and most didn't even keep the batteries in stock (the 250 and a bunch of Yamahas take the same size battery).

I agree with the Sandhills recommendation. It is where I have taken my ST for services. Great team of folks. Plus, after stopping in, just head into to Pinehurst and hit up one of the pubs. Nice little break from reality.

So since the weather is going to be crappy Saturday.
Anyone in the Raleigh area want to give me a hand replacing a stator on a 08 450xcf?
It's the XCF motor, not the same as the EXC or XCFW so it's got the opposite flywheel apparently.
I predict lots of profanity, some beer, and whatever a helper would want for food.
