Well here what I know. May 19th at Capital BMW theres a group of GS's that are taking this so called trail from Raleigh to VA. Since I'll be at the ADV Rally I won't be able to make it. But I thought it would be a fun ride. Anyways I keep looking around and when I know something I'll pass it along..

Any idea where in Va they are going? I mean there are pieces of trail here and there between us and Va, but I sure as hell don't know even how to get from Raleigh to WF via dirt.

I'm sure one of those GSs has a little thingy called a GPS. Maybe we could sweet talk one of them into saving the track. Worth a call to Jon or Greg up at Capitol.

Come to think of it, I'm sure I know someone riding with them. Let me place a couple of calls. Might be tough though, as those guys don't talk to me much any more since I drank the orange koolaid. :lol3

The problem with running routes off GE is that many of the trails are on posted land. I know A53 is protected by S&W ordnances. :evil

If I was able to go I would deff be saving the route for further use. but I'm still curios about the route. I'm sure if you ask nicely They might let you tag along.

Don't think I'd enjoy riding with the Capitol gang on the KTM 450. :lol3

There are a lot of pissed off people that "let" me ride through their backyards to try it.

Greg told me back in March that they were trying to pick up KTM at the dealership.

Sent from the voices in my head and transcribed by their drinking buddy...

    Soooooooo
    I stand corrected.
While my bike was trying to do an impression of a forest fire, (I wrapped the exhaust, and that Shit smoked something fierce at first) I met two guys that are riding from 15 minutes or so North of WF to the Virginia border via power lines.

I mentioned some guys were talking about it on pigs, they laughed. Said 450 s were awful heavy to pick up from the mud along the route. He said they usually start riding by nine or so, and ride until dark.
If I can get free I'm going to tag along on Saturday, and plot it via gps

Much appreciated. I'd like to get that track from you, or better yet, we plan a little lite weight DS ride on it sometime.

Hate I missed you Boss, but really wasn't looking for anybody. Did you bring up your vintage iron?

That seems more reasonable. Once you get to Henderson or up that way, it opens up a lot. I've thought about exploring it towards Butner a couple of times. 540 Toll monster kinda screwed up the going south from Raleigh routes.

I'll go with you and even carry your extra tools and some extra gas seeing as your little orange putter doesn't have any place to put stuff and it'll be a distance ride. :rofl

Have a brand new set of knobs all mounted up on spare wheels that could use the ride. I can also record/plot the route and host it up on my website if it turns out that this thing really actually exists and is legally passable.

I'm sure we could get one or two raleigh ds riders to join us as well.

Speaking of legal dirt - has anyone tried to ride the dirt road that parrallels 64 from Wendell to Hwy 95. From what I see as I'm passing that way there are miles and miles of it. Haven't taken the time to explore it yet though.

There has been a rash of disappearing bikes in the burbs up here too.

Thieves around here are lifting the bikes onto skateboards and rolling them off to a location where they can do some heavy lifting without anyone noticing.

Just cause you lock your steering column and maybe even put a lock on the rotor so that the wheels can't spin doesn't mean they won't be able to wheel them off anymore. :cry

I've used the skateboard trick to move everything from a hot tub to refrigerators. Never occurred to me that someone might steal a bike that way.

Bad guys have gotten smart. We need to get smarter.
