Guess Chris got tired of waiting for one of us to start this thread, just for that I'm going to bump his M1k thread. :D

First things first, we have to thank Chris for helping us out with this race, not only is he making us a sweet new light setup but he and his awesome wife Kelly are going to chase the race for us. Can't thank them enough. Little does he know we put his name on the entry form, we figured he can race the middle leg from pit 1 to pit 13, that way Mig and I have lots of time to watch the race and drink beer. :freaky

How about a quick introduction. I'm Don aka: GnarlyKarle (Karle rhymes w/Gnarly) and have messing around on two wheels as long as I can remember, from racing BMX bikes as a kid to getting in trouble for tearing up the grass in the neighbors yard with my KX80. Miguel aka: DirtySantana, Big Mig, Big Pimpin', cut his teeth with motorcycles in the streets of Manhattan dodging yellow taxis and only riding on the sidewalk when it was absolutely necessary. We both have a bit of racing experience, from racing local Colorado enduros to racing in the BITD desert series, to happily finishing the Baja 500 in 2007.

Here's a thread from the last race we did together.

Oh man, what did we get ourselves into?

When we weren't cleaning air filters and changing oil, we were monkeying with tire levers.

Good ride yesterday with Karle. My back has been bothering me for a few days so we went out and road some of the rocky stuff to help straighten things out.

    It didn't work!

Going to head out for the long holiday weekend to get a few days of training rides in.

Were excited as well. Super cool to see all of the ADV'ers racing this year. Maybe we should set up a time and place for all of us to meet on tech day? What do you think?

A few photos from yesterdays ride. The ride went well but we still have some more riding that we need to pack in, should be fun.

That would be good, we should also make sure our pit crews know each other and can assist each other as needed through the race. Especially if a pit crew gets delayed and the rider beats them to a pit, would be good for somebody to let the crew know the rider already left and they need to get moving to the next pit!

This a good idea, maybe someone should put together a list of all who is going.

That looks like good training. Getting that bike back up on the trail is worth at least100 training miles . :D

Ended up going down the hill, the more I fought with the bike the further it slide down hill. Only problem with that was the big dead pine tree that needed to be moved out of the way. The joys of riding by yourself...

    Latest update...

Spent the weekend putting the things in this box onto the bike. Averaging an oil change a week for the past month. Getting lots of practice I guess.

Spent today playing in the rain and mud puddles.

Are those Dunlop D606 tires? That what you are planning on for V2R?

Don't worry, not trying to start up one of the great ADV tire debate flame wars :lol3 just curious and trying to make a decision on what tires I am going to run. My usual new england terrain is a lot different than the desert so happy to hear what others are thinking.

Yep, their D606's. For the race were running a D606 up front and a cut D908 in the back. Both with mousses. This is the combo that Ned ran in Dakar with success. Backup wheels will probably using D606's front and rear.

What kind of oil you going to run...:lol3
