Sacrificial reiders to lead out 1 and 2 tomorrow, which means that after 30 mins or so Bottori may be navigating with Faria on his exhaust soon to be followed by Helder, Sam and the others!

If they can't or don't (someone will have to) take the initiative at the front, the top 10 will close up and with JB and KC some mins behind they will take the day 1st and 2nd and will have 10 mins and more on the rest of the field

    - just saying :D

When Caselli (KTM) and Barreda (HRC Spedbrain) are 20th and 23rd - and when looking at the race number criteria - Caselli won in Argentina this year and Barreda was 2nd in Morroco last year (the winner (CDP) is riding) things look a little more than odd :evil:deal

Several scenarios, but could just prove to be a decisive day :eek1

"cannon fodder" does seem to fit the bill... given the "reverse order" top 10 start rule... I don't recall seeing either of their names in the top 20 of an FIM event the last couple of years?

Its a very good field and a lot of bragging rights in the lead up to the big one in Jan for whoever has a good rally.

I am not throwing predictions out there yet but I hope our local boy ben grabham does well. He's a great pilot in need, and very deserving, of a factory gig.

Oh yeah and Go Sam!! It is the best I can do on short notice Troy...
The tension/expectation is killing me. :lol3

Should all be up and running tomorrow, although the Baja has stated today to confuse things and I understand it's the same route for both tomorrow :eek1

Can be of help only for Cardona, as he was 6th overall at the recent Serres Rally in Greece, not bad but always behind my friend Romano Caviglia with his standard DRZ400E, till an electric problem stopped him:evil

OilLyba organisation have him higher seeded than Caselli and Barreda, not to mention Verhoeven, Grabham, Pain, Duclos and Pizzolito :clap:clap :D

    - that is unless they are not on the FIM priority drivers list, have no results in the 2013 world cup, or from last years rally where Barreda came 2nd :lol3

Race on tomorrow, so enough of the consipracy theories - best man and bike to win hopefully :clap:clap

And there are a few scrutineering rumours that there is quite a bit of dust and that the factory boys with high number starts maybe feeling disadvantaged, so there could be some late adjustments :eek1:eek1

Hans found some nice local sponsors for the Dakar, non to be found for a continuous WEC effort :( Hope he does well, his first serious try at a rally although he did have a good go at Sardinia.:D

Dakar is still alive and kicking here although some of the regulars face budget issues with the current economy. Then again, the Ginaf boys are back after their operation went bust.:clap

We are indeed Dakar crazy and I hope we do get some longer stages in the coming years that bring back the sense of adventure vs world rally championship stages...

Bring us more guys like Toby Young and Henno on his old 500!!

PS. Have a look at Rob van Pelt Jr. Great heritage behind him and a few Euros to run some more events. No corporate sponsors here but he did beat a lot of big names last year while running malle moto on an aging crf.

One of the big factors is the 3 point battle between Coma and Goncalves. Both on new bikes, Paulo a new team albeit a familiar structure. That is the battle to watch.
