Ok, so pretty lame, but I have only had about six days off since August, yesterday managed to only get a few work emails/texts so I actually took the KLX out. First time I had started it (and my truck) since our trip to Moab in early September. Got in a two hour ride at Rampart Range. 8300' and still had a lot of snow and ice, despite being 60 degrees. Probably some of the toughest conditions I have rode in years. Reminded me of my old racing days in the deep mud in Alberta. A lot of time spent with the throttle wide open in second using the clutch to try to find some traction. The old Metzler Uni-cross did great, I actually made every hill, but had to try some a few times. Hit the ground a couple of times but nothing serious. The 250 feels tiny now. Easy to toss around, glad I went really stiff on the suspension when I upgraded in '98. Being 30 lb heavier now really makes it easier to control, and seems to help get the traction down. I also seem to get less arm pump, likely just due to being stronger.
