Ok, so pretty lame, but I have only had about six days off since August, yesterday managed to only get a few work emails/texts so I actually took the KLX out. First time I had started it (and my truck) since our trip to Moab in early September.

Got in a two hour ride at Rampart Range. 8300' and still had a lot of snow and ice, despite being 60 degrees. Probably some of the toughest conditions I have rode in years. Reminded me of my old racing days in the deep mud in Alberta. A lot of time spent with the throttle wide open in second using the clutch to try to find some traction.

The old Metzler Uni-cross did great, I actually made every hill, but had to try some a few times. Hit the ground a couple of times but nothing serious.

The 250 feels tiny now. Easy to toss around, glad I went really stiff on the suspension when I upgraded in '98. Being 30 lb heavier now really makes it easier to control, and seems to help get the traction down. I also seem to get less arm pump, likely just due to being stronger.

Went for a ride around Castle Rock today, just another hour, but thats all I have had since Thanksgiving. About 15" of snow at the house, but 40 deg + today, so pretty fun little ride.

30 miles today, it was a tad chilly! Need heated grips on my KLX.

Near Castlewood Canyon (some great scenery, and fun road to ride, hard pack snow, but no place to stop for photos)

125 mile ride today around Rampart Range was good, other then 3 miles of snow pack including a 10% downgrade! (Weather has been in the 50s for the last several days including today however the canyons near the river apparently weren't warming up, only 30 deg when I went through). Anyway, fun ride, glad i had my heated grips and vest.
    Sorry for the phone pictures:

I really miss riding at Rampart. Grew up there, worked there building trails, its my home. Riding in UT is great as well but different.

the big problem with Rampart is the crowds. I almost only ride there in the winter as I have had far too many near collisions (and one not near) with quads and the kids on MX bikes. (Not that MX bikes are the problem, just the operators). It is pretty dang busy. I live about 20 miles away, but unless I go to the west side (about 45 minutes) the crowds are unbearable. Some fun trails though!
