So as not to get my Tennessee plates thread all mixed up, I'm starting a new one for my Natural State adventures. I'll be adding more trips, and might possibly include some state park visits, and some camping. So if you're local, and you might want to meet up, go ahead and subscribe to this thread.

Same stupid writing style...Same blurry photos...Same goal. Backyard adventures. :lol3

The premise of this thread is go out into the backyard and see as much as possible. You can have adventures close to home, you just need an idea that sounded good at the time, make a few wrong turns, and viola!

My tale begins at horseshoe lake in East Arkansas.

On this trip I finally found a way to ride up on the bluff next to the Mississippi river... but I had to cut through the flat lands first.

Made it up there.

The cows must not see many bikes, some of the younger ones started running. I did not get caught in a stampede, but I was thinking about what plan B would look like at that point.

Breaking in the new chain the hard way. Oh well.

Off the bluff and into some interesting scenery. St. Francis Park
[IMG]

I'll buy a beer for the next person that takes a photo of their bike with this sign.

I popped out of the woods into the backside of Helena, Ar. A group of kids was looking at me as if I had Kiss makeup and a monster truck...
Up the street I happened upon Fort Curtis.

I guess the Ozarks and North West Arkansas have been done to death eh.
Well, there is lots of other stuff in the Natural State.

How about Wheatley Arkansas? I got there just in time for the vacant building festival...

I don't have a photo but...(write this down) Get the "Stuffy Hog Pie with Pink Sauce" Don't add or subtract anything. Get it just like I said. You can thank me later.

Although my day’s journey ends up in a mediocre hotel in North Little Rock, I can’t complain. It’s been a great day to ride.

Why thanks man. I would love to spend a solid two weeks riding every road in those parts. In the early mornings up there all you see is bikes and critters. Love it. :D

Nice write up! I missed this one.

When I rode out here last summer, I passed through and stayed in Mountain Home, AR. Was riding along highway 412 which is a nice ride. I recall the frequent sightings of road kill. :lol3

I've made so many trips over there I hardly ever take pictures anymore. There is a writeup of the area on the Rider Magazine website this month I believe. Dude hit all the same roads. Ill post a link if I can find it again.

Thank you boys!

I always enjoy seeing that familiar scenery. I'm a native Arkie (Etowah, in Mississippi County) and even though I get back there once or twice a season on my bike, I still sorta' forget what awesome riding there is in the Ouachitas and Ozarks. I was there this spring and I should be heading back that way in 10-12 days. Hope it's not snowing here when I leave. If so, it usually adds at least a day to my trip

It'll be nice to round off my blocked tires again!

You know, if we keep blabbing about it, that area is going to end up like east Tennessee. So here's my updated ride report.
Stay away at all costs. Roads are potholed craggy excuses for asfault. Cops hiding in the bushes. Pickup trucks are almost always driven on the wrong side of the road by either drunks, dogs, or both. If you ride in the Ozarks, You'll end up just like the opossum littering the side of the road like a scene from the walking dead.
