re-use tubes?

    I re-use tubes unless they show wear or aging. Friction or heat can weaken them. I usually get at least 2 tires out of a tube before I toss it, but I use tires that last 6K miles or more, and lots of baby powder.

    Hot patches are awesome! We have the clamp for them in my father's garage. I haven't seen one in over 30 years. Never had much luck with regular patches. Now I just buy new tubes when I get a flat.

    What makes you think the tube is no good after that short of time.?.
    Spend a couple extra $$ on a Heavy Duty tube then just replace if it flats..

    I'll put in a new tube while trailside, but patch the other when I get home... I've always had good luck patching.

    I guess I'm with the minority. I change mine on every tire change. For all the money I have invested into riding, I'm not going second guess on something that cost the equivalent to 2 tanks of gas.
