Good looking trikes. Consider this 'though; is it wise to spend $15,000 to build a road machine with severe limitations (including being able to carry just one small-ish rider) just to save some gas?

Of all 250cc stock motor scooters sold in the US, the Morphous should have delivered the highest mileage figures. If the Suzuki Gemma had been imported, that may have been the only 250cc to challenge that.

THAT remains the rub! You spend a lot of money to get a vehicle with low-running costs, but blow your budget in the process.

If this Persu Hybrid parallel hybrid costs as much as four 250cc maxis, who's going be the buying market for it?

Yes I would miss being able to lean also, two wheels is just too much fun and certainly lighter and better in the corners, only for sidewind like a semi blasting you off the road did I think I'd want 3 wheels.

I guess they already exist in s couple forms so it must be safe, here's some I just found:

I had no idea, then I found one vid and it led me to the rest.
Very interesting, I really want to try one of those out now that I've watched those in action. It looks like a blast.

I don't know about the op but I was thinking more garage built under 1k total using used/scrap parts most of which I already have.

I don't see a need for an electronic stabilizer system or a/c or anything fancy to start with, down the road maybe. If I were able to afford a project like this the most I would want to do is invest a little extra money in the shell and make it out of rivited aluminum panels to look like a vintage streamliner salt flat racer. I don't think I'd paint it though, just polish it.

I think the op was looking for more like this though right?

Check this out: 150mph with 50cc's.

Just for a better look at the outside of that one:

    And inside:

Anyone have a spare aluminum canoe laying around?

You can see a couple of those and hear results of them and everything else in this video below. Nice for comparison to see what they're capable of. Speaking of comparison Shinyo Kamura's harley powered needle bike only reaches 100 in this.

They make full GY6 swaps that extend the wheel base too.

    Not cheap, but they're there.

There's a guy around here I've seen a couple of times who took a bomb like that except he extended it a little and put a WWII style fighter cockpit on top and would ride around in it.

Looked cool going down the road, but was a little too long.

I'd like to see that one...

Here's an amphibious trike with a 110 yamaha mio scooter motor, someone else thinks like me. ~300lbs total for the whole car (which is less than my 150cc scooter stock) and it says it does 70mph easily on the freeway.

See how light and strong an all alumunum chassis can be? Shape and then rivet that ladder into the bottom of the canoe and sheet over the top of that for a smooth floor, then fill the whole floor with expanded foam and it would be plenty strong and light, and the thing could never sink even if it weren't water tight.[IMG]

I've sorta gone off track op, sorry. Maybe I should start another thread about my land speed looking floating canoe cruiser water battling scooter idea, I'm sure it's not at all what you had in mind.

Excuse me while I try to imagine how the motor would retract up inside to friction drive a prop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbDT0yotbPg&feature=related
